I disagree Ferguson is the greatest manager ever in English Football. Given the resources and advantages he's had, not to mention the fact he runs the FA with a waver of his hand he's done as expected or arguably underachieved.

For me his achievements are outmatched by that of Paisley, Clough and maybe even Wenger - who managed a team to an unbeaten season.

Hes one of the most humble managers in football.

Should consider reading about some of the stuff he does outside of football aswell as the help and advice he proviides for any manager who wants it. Some of them would surprise you. Rafa for example.

Remember, what you know of him is what the media want you to know and I am sure you will all agree the media can **** off <ok>

I would argue with 'greatest', for me Rinus michels and Jose are better. The rancid one has never plied his skills abroad and has largely stayed at a club where player acquisition and money where no problem. benefitted greatly from the building block blue-print that the great Sir Matt Busby laid down.

In terms of pure honours it's hard to argue against Fergiee but I agree he's had some major assistance along the way. Pre Roman, United were far and away the biggest spenders in the P.L, he got a few seasons to get it right where nowadays he'd have been sacked long before winning the league and he was provided with arguably the greatest youth team in English football history when Becks et all came through together.

I think only 2 european cups is an under achievement though, especially compared to say Jose whose won it twice with 2 really unfancied sides from different leagues without the resources or the time Fergie had.

Absolutely old boy <ok> Doesn't make him a bad manager because he didn't have the drive or ambition to prove himself as a European great but stayed with a big fish in a small pond.

    Robby <ok>

Spot on with those calls. I've also said Jose is the greatest as well. Had the balls to apply his trade elsewhere where he wasn't the big fish and didn't have the luxuries Old Whisky does. Old Whisky would be have been found out years ago had he managed in Europe.

Jose instils a winning mentality at all clubs and when he leaves he leaves fans longing for his return (just ask Chelsea or Inter). Class act IMO. Although Saachi's Milan IMO was the most dominant European side of the last few decades.
