I would say you are overestimating some peoples reactions. My first games at Carrow Road were standing at the River End. Ten minutes left to go City 0-1 down and people leaving in droves. Why? Even when we had won games, the announcer would get abuse hurled at him. "Oi int watching thet there ****e agin" as they trundled out of the ground.
While the presentation of football has changed remarkably over the years, peoples attitudes haven't. A loss is bad enough but two in a row is reason for mutiny! Other people have always had a more phegmatic approach. Who is right I have an opinion on. But its doesn't detract from the half empty brigades right to go along, moan yet turn up again the next match.
Last season was the third part in the success story that is NCFC. After several years of managerial and palyer changes and poor performances.
Maybe this season is being taken for granted and many half empty people expect us to be successful. So consequently the bleaker outlook. Personally I like to take one game at a time. One aful, followed by 4 exciting and pleasing followed by last Saturdays dire performance.
But I don't thnk any less of the people who are already waiting for the Championship fixtures to come out. The same way as I don't think any less of those who think that there is no problem.

<ok> redruth. Us on here cannot significantly influence the other 26,000-odd at Carrow Road on a Saturday. All one can do is hope that, however badly things go, people will not turn a disappointing campaign (if such it turns out to be) into a disaster, leaving the club not merely relegated but in disarray and ill-equipped to bounce back speedily.

But in this case I'm really making an observation about this forum. As I've said before on other threads, I look for informed, balanced debate about football in general and NCFC in particular. Especially of late, I find myself learning more about the psychology of football fans than about either of those. This is not to do with liking or disliking this or that poster; none of us know one another well enough as people for that. I'm sure if we all met up in a pub we'd get on famously (the Ipswich lads included). Thai obviously has a somewhat similar view to myself, as witness his excellent "Lower Leagues" thread. But it would be a shame if the sort of discussions we presumably are all really interested in should turn out to be possible only if the subject isn't the one closest to our hearts! <cheers>

I think the big majority of posters are positive. Or else they would't take the time or trouble to post. Most Doctors are brilliant but some don't always have the best bedside manner. And sometimes you can type a post and look at it later and think "that is not what I meant!"
And of course we would get on famously, especially if Dave got the first round in.
