That is truly the gift that Talk5hite keeps giving us.

The presenters on there - with the notable exceptions, perhaps, of Paul Hawkesby and Andy Jacobs (a Spurs and a Chav combo, that works quite well, actually) - are utter ****wits!

Mark Saggers has got to be one of the biggest morons in broadcasting. He comes across as very plummy, but he's thicker than a whale omelette. He starts arguments from the most pedantic and pathetic standpoints, getting himself into some right old huffs, over absolutely nothing. Andy Gray and Richard Keyes should have stayed sacked for their sexist antics on Sky. Mickey Dim simple goes to prove that being stupid with a Scouse accent does not automatically make one funny. And Stan "the Man" Collymore is the type of presenter who will ask you a question and then give you the answer.

They wind me up so much, and I love it!

I wonder if that radio station is worthy of its own thread? Probably not worth worrying about. Most of the presenters are bad enough (except Hawksbee and Jacobs) but you then have to look at how much programming you actually get per hour after you take away the adverts, competitions (paid for by the sponsor), sponsored parts of programmes (Paddy Power actually more entertaining than the presenters normally, but nevertheless its a big advert) and a huge number of links and stuff on their own "programmes". Take all that away and you are normally left with only two lads having a conversation who are often not much better informed than the man on the street (and generally talking about the top 4 plus Pool). The shallowness of their knowledge of sport in general highlighted by the Olympics. I'll tell you how bad it got for me... I even had some sympathy for our North London rivals after chief WUM Durham instigated his pathetic "Daily Arsenal" wumming section. But I guess if I carry on this rant TalkShite have actually won! I do listen to them occasionally I admit, but they don't really compare in quality to 5Live.

just read that Roy Roger's has said the Liverpool will START diving because they don't get the rub of the Green. He'd better go to specsavers,as in Suarez they have one of the league's worst diver's. <laugh>

It's not diving per say that's Suarez's main problem; it's theatrics on the ground after a genuine tackle and his attitude to referees.

I simply cannot believe that Roy Rodgers is telling his players to dive. What an absolute disgrace!

Why don't they go the whole hog and have every player throw himself to the ground as soon as an opposition player looks at him. We might have the bizarre and outrageous spectacle of every 'Pool player, including the goalie, throwing himself on the ground at the same time.

So much for the long lost glory days of the 70s and 80s, eh, Roy!

'Per say'

'Main problem'

<ok>

You seem to be a very fair minded and balanced poster NI, but it is diving, per say or otherwise! <laugh>
Just one example of a very clear dive:

I won't go into the other problems that I have with his game, but he really annoys me, as he's a very talented player and they completely detract from his game.
He's actually less effective because of how he behaves.

I did not say that he didn't dive. He does. Practically every team worldwide has players that dive. Even Stoke, I imagine. I wish he didn't.

His main issue - which means he doesn't get decisions when he is indeed fouled - is that he rolls around on the ground like he's been shot. That's not diving, but it is a form of simulation; theatrics.

Stoke do have Michael Owen on the books. Remind me, where did he break through, and does that club have a reputation for diving?

I wouldn't say any club does have a reputation for diving (maybe apart from Barca). It's symptomatic of the game at the moment, unfortunately.

Suarez does do it too much (which is in theory at all). No getting away from that. But if you look across the top sides, you have Rooney, Welbeck, Luiz (!), Hazard, Bale etc. All of them dive. Suarez is perhaps the most distasteful to a neutral however for other reasons (appearance, Evra, handball etc). In Spain they're all doing it. In Germany you could easily pick out a few - Robben and Ribery for example. In Italy - Gilardino made one of the worst dives ever.

Premier League clubs with a reputation for diving:
Man Utd (Rooney, Young, Scholes, Nani, Van Persie - plus Beckham, Ronaldo, van Nistelrooy, Cantona)
Chelsea (Torres, Cole, Lampard, Malouda, Hazard - plus Drogba, Ballack)
Arsenal (Walcott- plus Henry, Pires, Cole, Van Persie, Lehmann)
Liverpool (Suarez, Gerrard, Cole - plus Owen, Kuyt, Torres, Baros)
