Fellaini is a really good player. I don't think it's worth spending the next three days worrying about who can beat him in the air, the best way to counter him is to stop those balls coming in to his head and chest. And to do that we are going to have to keep and use possession like we did in the best bits of the games against Villa and Utd. We are definitely second favourites but I still back us to score goals anywhere. And as a small consolation Everton were poor yesterday.
Schneiderlin is bigger and stronger than all of our other CMs. As NA says, control the controllables.
Phil Neville isn't in the first flush of youth, so probably won't overlap much. Mirallas is more of a striker than a winger too. Their left (our right) is where most of their attacks are going to come from, so we need to make sure the back post is covered because that's where they will look to find. Much like the aerial battle between Lambert and Raphael, Clyne against Fellaini/Anichebe would be similarly one sided. Mirallas probably won't cause too much trouble on his own so if the midfield close down well, I don't think that side will cause us a whole lot of trouble. It's their weaker side and the one we should look to hit on the counter. Fellaini often gets into the box acting as a second striker and when he does that, we'll have a free man in midfield to start a counter if the ball drops for us. Everton are a good side, but they do concede goals. I wouldn't bet against another 3-2.
Everton are a good team, main problem for them is backup is not good enough. so i can see them being quite a force in the early parts of the year. Draw at best for me
Everyone is worrying about Everton scoring (quite rightly), but this season is going to be all about how many we score. We will score one more than you is our mantra.
I would change Mayuka for punch, thier defence is slow apart from Baines, so use Mayuka to push him back. Looking forward to see Lallana against Neville. Its also on Fox so no crappy download
When I think about it, I would take a point going away to Goodison, especially after their early season form. Lets face it they will be a top 8 team, and a point would not be a bad result, if Yoshida and Fonte play and are as dominant in the air as they were against Villa, we have a real chance of holding them, and who knows what we might be able to do up their end.
I'd be tempted to do the same, but after the cup game, Crosby said that he wasn't involved because he picked up a slight knock when Guzan brought him down on Saturday. Probably just a precaution, but I'm not sure I'd risk him from the start.
------------------Gazzaniga----- Richardson----Fonte-----Yoshida-----Clyne ----------Davis---------------Morgan ----------------------------------------------- Puncheon/Mayuka--Ramirez---------------Lallana -------------------Lambert------------------------ If we start with this I fancy us to get at least a point.
I know where you're coming from. just a question of whether it's wise to have a different keeper 3 consecutive league games when we won the last game and we've won allthe games Gazzaniga has played
I think this should be the lineup as well. Not as confident as other people seem to be but I'd bite your hand off now if offered a draw!
Before watching Everton before the Swansea game, I thought we would lose the game 3-0. But now I truely believe we can win this game, if we can contol Fellani and the big bull of a striker they have
It's a boy, they've named it Arthur. Looking at some of the tweets close to his family it sounds like everyone is doing well. p.s I am not a stalker, haha, just came across it!!
After the the cup result, the toffees will come out fighting! as we did after........! A draw will be a good result, anything more and it will take a week to get my feet back on 'terra firma!'
