I was 5 at the time but did not follow Sunderland until 1976.

My only first recollection of a FA Cup final was in 75' West Ham v Fulham.

My eldest brother(Leeds Fan) who would have been 11 went to watch it with our Dad at a mates house, not sure if it was because he had a colour tv? Only we never had a colour tv until 78'.

Yes would love a repeat in either cup this year.

I was 10 and remember it like it was yesterday. My dad was at Wembley and me and mum watched it on the telly. Longest second half in history!

Surprised you found one in colour mate that was a long time ago, remember being by the Wheatsheaf when they did the tour and was amazed at how many people there were in Sunderland that day.
Lets hope we get to see something similar in my life time anyway.

I was 8 and a half mate. Started going to Roker with my dad regular in the 74/5 season and it was the 73 cup final that captured my heart and my lifelong love affair begun. I've never regretted a second of the 39 years since.

Been friggin hard at times along the way mind? Lol

39 years of mainly hurt mate. Unfortunately or fortunately whichever way you look at it I was still -14 years when we won the cup so would absolutely love to see us win something. Just seen the draw thats a bye into the quarters then haha.

I was a student at Sunderland polytech and we were given the option, lessons in the afternoon or go to the bus depot and decorate the bus! no brainer!!
Brilliant day then watched the returning heroes.

Reading these responses makes me feel VERY old!!

For goodness sake, it was only 40 years ago, seems like yesterday to me and I can clearly recall just about everything about the day - even travelling back on the Echo train from KX where I bought a limited version copy of the Football Echo that had been flown down for sale in London (marked with an aeroplane on the top corner). Wonderful memories, but unfortunately the only time I saw us win at Wembley in 5 visits.

Just for the record I think the picture shows the bus travelling into town on Durham Road with Farringdon on the left and Thorney Close school on the right. I was outside the Tech College with my youngest daughter.

I sincerely hope some of the current supporters have the privilege of such joy one day.
