Ok, I have to put up my hand up and admit that I didn't realise the depth of your loathing for him was, and that it wasn't prediction based.
It's not healthy to hate somebody you've never met (presumably?) that much!
 
Don't know why all the Garth Crooks hating is going on, he is my favourite pundit! Really passionate about football, and it shows through in everything he says even if sometimes they are a bit extreme.
 
This sums up all you need to know about Lawro and his predictions regarding Norwich City. We'd just sacked Bryan Gunn who has never, ever been a football manager and appointed Paul Lambert who clearly is and is set for great things in the game and this twat smugly predicted we'd be heading for double relegation down to League Two.

I think the words the kids use nowadays are EPIC FAIL <doh>

Never, ever heard him admit he's wrong though, which of course you wouldn't if you were a complete **** like him. He gets paid an absolute fortune to talk blatantly obvious **** on MOTD and his predictions on the website are based on nothing more than picking the favourites from a fixed odds betting coupon. He is an absolute joke and I honestly don't know anyone who even remotely likes him - and I'm not limiting this to just Canary fans.

The numpty said he was concerned when he predicted we would end up in L2 so it seems he is Mikeys twin and its Europe for us lads <party><party><party>

You correctly used the word 'criterion' whereas most people - some BBC presenters included, Victoria Derbyshire take note, always use the plural form, criteria. <applause>

Lawrenson does - and always has treated Norwich with a small club mentality. This manifests itself in his comments and predictions, regardless of whether we're doing well or shockingly poorly.

Last season he got a throb on about Swansea, even though we only lost out in the final standings on goal difference to them at the end of the season. He was completely dismissive of us, from the first game to the last. <grr>
 
Also I'll never forget that during our 2004/5 Premiership season, the year after we were comfortably promoted as champions, he didn't predict us to win a single game all season. Not one. Week in, week out he'd predict us to lose and I think if he had been correct every week we'd have ended up with something like eight points, all from draws. Ok, we went down in the end, but only on the final day of the season and we managed to at least pick up seven wins over its course.

Blimey, all this make me realise that he's been doing these predictions on the beeb website for at least eight years now, probably even more - couldn't they have found someone at least slightly else less of a twat to have done it by now?
 
I don't think Hansen is that bad - quite like him.

Lawro is good as a co-commentator - provides the dour sarcasm I appreciate.

Also like Iain Dowie and of course Colin Murray.

I think as a pundit you have to talk about stuff you don't necessarily know much about, you're bound to say things that people disagree with, even based on probability.
 
I must admit I don't despise Lawrenson, at least he might state something interesting.

Shearer on the other hand is as insightful and interesting as a beige cardboard box full of straw. He is totally berift of ideas, stimulating conversation, humour, charisma, a total dullard whos only ability is to describe whats happening on the screen. No analysis, pure description, ****ing repugnent waste of BBC money. God I hope we beat Newcastle and wipe that smarmy smile of the twats face when he thinks he's said something funny.

They should put him against the wall (alongside Ian Wright), put him and us out of our misery and replace him with Pat Nevin, who with Lee Dixon are probably the best on terrestrial TV.

Er, if you're a pundit earning upwards of half a million quid of tax-payers money a year then surely the minimum expectation would be to develop at least a basic knowledge of what you're being paid so handsomely to talk about - or am I being daft? Christ, anyone could talk about probablity, like I said earlier Lawrenson bases his predictions on the fixed odds coupon from William Hill from the evidence I've seen. He is a joke pundit, but he's not even funny - that dour sarcasm you talk of ceased to be entertaining years ago, just makes him sound the arrogant prick that he is if you ask me.

However I do agree with you about Hansen, who I really don't mind at all these days, and Colin Murray who I also personally like - though I know a lot of people who can't stand those two either.

I imagine he forgets more about football than we'll ever know.

But he's on a pedestal - it's bound to happen that people will disagree with him. His predictions are never very 'out there' but whose are?

I don't mind his sense of humour - and anything is better than the 'insight' on ITV.

Hansen tells it like it is. Seems a smart guy. Colin Murray is very likeable, good presenter - better than Dan 'bland' Walker. Sadly he'll probably always be limited to MOTD2 and Five Live.

Pat Nevin - somehow forgot him. Quality.

My colleague who sits next to me at work is very good friends with Perry, he is a good pundit who is interesting in what he says.
