Moving on to the tax debate, SL has made his fortune through hard work and being a better business man than those around him. He has created massive wealth, jobs etc for the region. He is just a 'normal' bloke done good as opposed to born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
****in whingin hyocrites..
I would love to be a fly on the wall in most of your lives and watch your little efforts at tax dodging of which there would be plenty, if I was Lansdown I would piss off too rather than subsidising a bunch of grabbing do nothings taking the piss on a daily basis.

so? yes bravo to him for what he has done and achieved but like i said in my last post what he has done and achieved does not make him exempt from paying what he should pay. it does not give him the right to tax dodge. again fair shout to him gaining a fortune. gaining a fortune in this country means paying a fortune in tax. thats the law im afraid and where he along with many others on that list who is not paying what should be paid, its ****ing up our economy and the lowest paid are the one paying for it. while the rich can keep their wealth and never have to worry about paying the next bill and finding food to provide to their kids. again not doubting the good he has done but the bad he is doing now is not right.
In my view tax should be a flat rate of 30% for everyone, but change the tax laws so that there are no hiding places or loopholes and ensure that everyone pays. More money being spent in the economy, more jobs and wealth creation = more money in the government coffers...
interesting view. until the law changes, folk like lansdown will be seen as a tax avoider/dodger which is what were all saying.
as stated above in many posts, no one here is suggesting the good that he has done is not good. fair shout to the guy for doing what he has done. fair shout to the guy for gaining a wealth that no one here combined will ever see in our life time.Del and Wiz.
Would you really adopt this attitude towards these tax avoiders if your major sponsor was not involved in what most people consider to be a scam?
No-one is knocking the entrepeneurs who make businesses which create wealth and employment for large numbers of ordinary working folk.
Its the efforts of ordinary working folk who provide the core activity which enables these businesses to be succesful. BUT those ordinary working folk have to turn up for work each day and unable, nor able to afford, to fly to work from tax havens to avoid paying the regulation taxes.
This government has put huge restraints on the economy, effectively reducing the income of nearly all working and pensionable people. The effect of these hard times is that the country has paid off 25 percent of the structural deficit. Now you tell me why common all garden working folk should bear this burden while tax dodgers can walk away from a fair play situation and spend their money on whatever little trivial pursuit they feel the yen for.
Just step back and look at the bigger picture. This country is in a hellova mess as a result of over borrowing and all the of UK citizens who earn in the UK should shoulder the burden, not just the non-priviliged masses.
Fair play should come into the equation and fair play now! New regulations and another load of red tape to adjust the situation will not only take a long time to put into place, but just be seen as yet another challenge to the sharp accountants.
How are you intending to make these people pay tax without a change in the system and more 'red tape' then? You can't stop people from moving abroad. What you can do is encourage them to stay or come here in the first place.
The procedure is already in place isn't it?
Its called 'Name and Shame'
Just a simple suggestion that we all stick to footy matters on this site please.
