Wow! Big question!
I know Paul di Resta better than Kobayashi so loyalty plays its part here.
di Resta:
A known quantity. Very quick, intelligent and accurate; and with the potential to help develop a car with that all-essential ingredient: driver feedback.
Kobayashi:
Clearly very talented. He has that 'something extra': courage. When I first saw him I predicted that he would become recognised as the greatest ever driver from Japan.
One thing's for sure Silver: you've picked two of the biggest talents of recent years.

Di resta, Koby seems to be getting a tad dangerous, the feeling you get when he closes down on another driver is one of "there is going to be an accident".
Di resta has pure speed and can bring the best out of the F-India unlike Sutil.

Head says Di Resta because of being as good as Vettel and beating him in Formula 3. But the other side of my head says Kobayashi because of his obvious skill lol.
I think it's fair to say we want them both in top teams but who they will replace will be the big question, me thinks.

I have said Kobayashi now, but that could change if Di Resta maintains this form over the season.
Why do think that?
I think it's still too early to make judgement about Di Resta, but having said that, he's looking very strong this season.

Kobayashi he is a good racer, and some of the passes he pulls, amazing. But winning world titles is not all about passing, so maybe when he settles down i think he will be a quick little racer. I doubt he will go to ferrari just yet, but he has lots of time.

Yes, he's doing a very fine job on Sutil. Sutil is also very quick; by no means a pushover and far more experienced within both F1 and the Force India team. For these reasons, what Paul di Resta has done so far is mightily impressive.
Incidentally, I didn't declare my vote: I would want them both!

I think they both deserve seats in top cars, but then equally so do many others! I'd like to see Sutil and Rosberg in top cars, and there aren't enough seats to go around. I think di Resta will only improve as he gets more used to F1, and Kobayashi looks good, but he's not really outperforming the car (well, unless Perez is too!), so its hard to judge his absolute pace. I'd say di Resta is more suited to leading a top team, once he has a couple of seasons experience, whilst Kobayashi might make a decent team-mate for a more experienced driver (such as maybe Alonso at Ferrari?), as I feel he's not a 'safe' option for a team with a competitive car.

It can be very difficult to make a valid comparison of drivers within F1.
In most other forms of motor racing, it is far easier to see who's quick and who's slow but the nature of F1 with only 3 drivers normally getting any chance to drive - including testing - means that comparisons can be very difficult.
And there is another factor to consider: just how good is the car? Two top quality drivers will make a car look fast when compared to two average drivers in the same car. For these reasons, the most valid 'acid test' for a driver is to be measured against a known quantity; a driver who's performance is well-established but in the same car: one's team mate..
Perez looks as if he could be pretty good but he's new to F1 and difficult for Kobayashi to be properly compared with.
But there is something I feel worth adding to this conversation: most of the new boys are really good. I'm saying this from the point of view of their racing ability rather than their absolute speed and for the reason that in spite of very close racing at the highest level, we are seeing very few crashes as a result of driver error. I have also been watching the in car footage very carefully and the general level is as high as I can ever remember.
These guys are good. And most of them are very very good!
I couldn't care less about the speed, just for the pure kamikaze entertainment, Kobayashi is my third favourite driver (behind Massa and Alonso)
love watching Kobay drive, he's my favourite atm, always best of the rest, yet to be beaten on track by any of his team-mates, i think he's had 1 accident that was his fault, clean overtaker and not an idiot. I don't know how anyone can accuse him of being dangerous, or kamikazi, especially when you consider he's always in amongst it, crashes far less than 3 of the 5 WDC's on the grid. As Cosi said, by far the best driver Japan has ever produced for F1, for me a decent car away from a WDC, better than Kubica IMHO, certainly beat the only common team-mate they had by a far bigger ratio (Kubica edged Heidfeld, but Kamui beat Heidfeld everytime, not a true test, but still)
Satoru certainly surprised a few, but as James Hunt once noted, he didn't seem to have the strenght for it, and never shone as brightly as I think Kobay is now, remeber he had a race winning car at one point (ok, in Senna's hands) but never made it to the podium, ever, and this at a time when mechanical retirements were far more prevalent norm and ended up retiring because it was taking too much out of him.
We won't really know about Kobay until he gets a race winning car, atm he's beating what all he can, but the Sauber just isn't a match for the top 5 teams.

Koba for cert. He is exciting to watch and gets the job done. where as so far Di Resta is just running a good pace and picking up points, havnt seen any good race craft from him so far.

I believe the standard of driving has improved massively over the past few years, the current crop of WDCs are the best we have seen for decades, the new drivers are very intelligent and drive with immense skill, the proof is evidenced by the lack of collisions at the start of the races and the increased amount of overtakes although some would attribute this to gadgets.
The amount of skill exhibited by some is incredible, particularily with the coplexity of the press button controls, I am convinced we are witnessing the renaissance of driver skill becoming the paramount component for winning.
Not only with pure driving skills but also having to think on the spot whilst trying to control a 200 mph projectile, a new beed are emerging.
The best of these guys are able to multi-task in a very small window in a matter of milli seconds and drive at the same time, how do they do that.
