Welly, I can honestly say
That to me it's a sad, sad day
When one of your own
Can denigrate Town
In this particular way

Nor do I sympathise
With Canary triumphalist cries
At Ipswich Town's plight
And I wait for a sight
Of your club once again on the rise.

For you are no different from us
As you climb on the train or the bus
Supporting your team
With a similar dream
Through times with more minus than plus

Keep the faith and look forward again
To bright sunshine replacing the rain
When the good times return
And the Tractor Boys earn
The success for which you so yearn.

<ok>

Robbie, I have to admit, that's not half bad, with sentiments I also share!

Cheers, Dave. Long time ago when I was teaching, I was rebuked by the school secretary (after I had been rather graphically telling her what I thought of one or two of my class). "Just remember", she said, "that each of them is some mother's little darling." Likewise, as we feel about City, other fans feel about their club. It should be possible to empathise with them rather than gloat at their misfortunes or envy their successes. Football hatred is truly hateful. <ok>

Oops, that last line went a bit astray rhymewise! <laugh>

<applause> I doth my cap to you Sir! <ok>

Eventhough we are regional rivals at least the majority of us recognise and revel in friendly rivalry!

You're giving RBF a run for his money!!

<laugh>

OK, firstly,Carra, don't start the chuffing bipolar thing again, we already had world war III about that kind of insensitive nonsense.

Now then.

Mr Wellyphant.

I grew up in the shadow of Portman Road also. But there is virtually nothing remaining of the club I grew up supporting. A few years ago I would never have posted something like that but times have changed.

Nah, be careful what you wish for and think back to those dark black and white days between '78 and '81 Dave. How many binners did you here calling for parity between our two clubs then ? Keep 'em down with the dead men that's what I say <ok>

(Sorry Warky, no offence ;))

Agree with this.
These are our local rivals, NOT our mates, the further down they go the better!!!
Remember the sympathy we got when we were getting relegated.........NO? Correct, there wasn't any was there!!
Warky, JWM, Welly, LancsYorks:emoticon-0113-sleep.....(sorry dozed off there) hampssomewhere!!! As football supporters you do have my sympathy, but as Binners you don't!!!!!
Anyone know where Jim Magilton is?????????

Oh how they laughed when we fell from grace,
They were taking the piss all over the place.
Waving wads of cash and chanting with glee,
As League One football beckoned City.

But the winds of change have blown North and South,
And that Binner in blue has now shut his mouth.
Should the season end with The Town going down,
I for one will not fret nor will frown.

We've lived in their shadow for many a year,So let's all rejoice at their imminent nightmare.
The 'Old Farm' derby we can do without,
Perhaps the odd cup-tie which we'd win no doubt. <ok>

OTBC ... CTI<ghost>

ITFC R.I.P

I'm glad to see that you finally admit it! <ok>

I'm one of the lucky ones being a supporter during the Bobby Robson era and witnessing some great moments too numerous to mention! I feel sorry for this generation having to witness the slow death of my once great football club but if we go down or whatever else happens, I have seen the very best of times and these memories will live with me forever! It's a shame you boys will never witness your team winning any major silverware.

It is perfectly possible to be rivals without nastiness. Why is it thought that football allegiances justify and excuse opinions, attitudes and behaviour that would not be tolerated for a moment in any other sphere? The fact that it is reciprocal doesn't make it any the more acceptable.
