Cheers OneLeeds, at least there is someone on here who has the intelligence to talk about football issues these days..

the words Oneleeds and Intelligence should never be used in the same sentence <laugh>

Think he will be a good addition for 3 months, typical Warnock type player, if hes does half decent wouldn't suprise me to see him join permo in January, if his fitness stays alright.

Tonge will be a good addition, he must be wanting to earn a deal with his Stoke contract set to run down.

Don't Expect Anyone Else

We’ve worked together before and that’s what clinched it for me. I spoke to three or four players but I feel he’s at the right stage to have a go again. He’s been at Stoke for quite a while and not played much. The team we’ve got will complement him.”

Warnock enquired about Tottenham Hotspur’s Jermaine Jenas and also approached Leicester City to discuss Neil Danns’ availability before finalising a deal with Tonge.

“All the lads I looked at had different strengths,” said Warnock. “A couple of them we couldn’t afford.

“I was after a lad from the Premier League – not Jenas, a younger lad – but we had to pay full wages and it was too much for us. I wasn’t going to pay silly money for the sake of it even though he would have been my number one choice.”

Warnocks comments regarding Tonge - They suggest to me that his dealings have finished and loan players are only going to come in when there is an injury. There were two we couldn't afford, not Jennas was NW's quote and I doubt it was Dann's, personally I would prefer either of those two over Tonge

Could be Warnock telling the club concerned that we are not able to meet 100% of wages but are still very interested.

We have to face the fact that we have some unwanted wage pits in the squad, until we move players on our wage pot will not grow.

It clear that Bates is not interested in squad investment and has set a pot of cash for Neil.

In my opinion we should follow Ken's example and keep our wallets in our pockets whilst he does.

Last count we have a smaller squad than last season and we have already shifted more than we brought in.

Don't get me wrong I am not justifying this lack of funding.

We just need to clear some dead wood before we get in some more as Bates clearly is not committed to the club or promotion.

Current Wage Drains:
Danny Pugh
Paul Rachubka
Leigh Bromby
Ramón Núñez
Davide Somma
Paul Connolly

Agree with all but Somma, the guy is a goalscorer, and I'd definitely give him a chance after his injury in a front 2. If the injury's ruined him, it's a shame, but oh well. If it hasn't ruined him, we get a very, very good player back. Needs to work on his all round game, but he was a great finisher from what I remember <ok>

Just s thought - is it worth recalling Rogers? Not seen a great deal of him, but he seems to have a creative spark.

I would definitely bring him back. By all accounts hasn't done great at Stevenage, but by god do we need some creativity. Can't be any worse than Varney out wide so would be happy to give him a go.

I just got thinking, who is our worst summer signing

Its got to be Varney, I haven't seen him do anything positive as of yet

Decent assist vs Peterborough.

Yea I suppose I forgot about that, still to me has been a huge let down. Don't think he is good enough to be first team although seems decent in the air. I would more liken him to Becchio than someone that can play out wide
