Another wasted opportunity. Defoe slightly messed up the pass, Lennon's touch was too heavy and it was gone. Annoying. We've played really well, but not quite taken enough of our chances. Very positive performance so far, though.
FFS we need the second goal. I can see them scoring a flukey goal and then the game changing and us hanging on. We are so superior we need to put teams like this away.
Yes, we must capitalise on our current dominance. I can see us hitting the self destruct button again if we don't.
Agree with that PNP thats why we badly need this second goal. It's very stressful watching Spurs play.
We're pissing about towards the end of the half, trying to stroll over the line to the break. Not good.
Another long piece of build up play. Keeping the ball very well and pulling their players all over the place. Nice to see.
Bale is doing his 'I'm gonna play anywhere I want - cos I'm amazing' act again. Not sure that act has ever worked.
Well it's been a good half - but we really should be about 3-0 up. I fear we'll pay for those missed chances and draw again.
Lots of positive passages of play but we should be 2/3 up. Still a little nervy at the back leading to us booting up the pitch a few times too often which only helped Reading get on the ball and grow in confidence. Thought Sandro was very good along with a few others. Defoe's finishing has been pretty awful but everything else he's done very well. I'd like to see Bale stay out wider and try and latch on to a few through balls. Looked like we started as a 433 at first and it was interesting to see Sigurdsson seeing more of the ball.
I know a lot of people are going to be blowing Defoe's trumpet for him and giving it large with the "so where are all the Defoe-haters?" comments, but, let's face it, his was a simple tap-in, and all the hard work had been done for him. Any striker worth his salt would have been there to score that goal. Outside of the goal, he's done nothing apart from screw things up. He shouldn't be starting for us. Sorry.
It's this type of total drivel that stops me, and I have no doubt others, from commenting on match threads. If Defoe scored a hat-trick but missed 6 more chances, some of you would only focus on the missed chances. The mind boggles!
Defoe's played well. Worked hard, scored, created a great chance for himself from that long ball from Naughton and another for Sigurdsson by closing down the keeper. Missed a few, but I'd say that only one of them was a good chance.
Okay, perhaps he wasn't quite as clueless as I made out, but I still don't think he buries enough chances to warrant a starting slot in our first XI. Imagine if Tevez or even Torres had been playing up front for us today, with all those chances we created!
