According to the commentators this ref played 5 seasons in the Dutch 2nd division, So Unlike most refs has actually played the game. I've always quite liked the idea of former players refereeing, Could it work in the English leagues? Would it be a good idea? Whats everyones views on this?
He gave a pen and 2 yellows in the first five minutes! All harsh, I think, but maybe he's just warming up.
How many England players have played at Church Road? That's not a rhetorical question by the way. I know Tom Cleverley has but apart from that I wouldn't have a clue.
Up here north of the border it was not on TV, so I watched on my PC. But from what I saw, on the whole i thought the ref had a good game, he let things flow, and took into account challenges that players make, but are not deliberate fouls, and let the game continue.
I thought he had a good game tbh, Penalty was a little harsh, as was our yellow card but over all, I'd happily see that standard in all our games. Could have happily shot the ****ing musicians in the face though.
