Faurlin back Granero looks awesome Nelson - solid and commanding, shame he can't shoot! Team grew into themselves as the match went on On top against the champions for a large portion of second half Mancini dropping deeper and slowing the game down to be sure of the win Hit on the break for the 3rd, can't be helped We still have Cesar, Diakite, Mbia to come in to the team / squad. If for one think that was a top effort after a slow start. Things will get better, well done rr's!
defo mate much better performance , i would have hoilette on at 70 min they looked ****ed then , 2-1 down they were under pressure would have been nice to add even more pace and trickery going forward ...ohhh well , but **** , some good stuff today **** the score that was much better , was man city after all
lack of adventure??...Would have ended up a cricket score if we were more open!.Well done lads.Feel better now!.You rrrrs
Really? They were knackered having contained the league champions and we spent a good 25mins in top playing done lovely football! Put it in context against the opposition. Had we done that to Norwich the other week totally different result!
If we can play openly like that, competing against the best without panicking, we're definitely out of the danger zone in the weeks to to come. No doubt we've now have all the quality we need to get results. Disagree with Kerry's comments above about lack of invention. Felt there was quite a bit a times, just so happened it didn't end up with goals, except for AJ's which led to Zamora's nod over the line. Never mind. It was the champions away from home. Plenty to build upon with all the blocks ready to use. Very positive all told, I feel.
Thank you 74 and Brix, nothing to add. Future genuinely exciting, a couple of weeks until Chelsea at home. Our new boys will understand what is special about our club when they walk out on the pitch then.
The second half made me feel very positive about the rest of the season. Some of our passing was what should be expected from a premiership team.
Are we aspiring to only losing by a couple of goals? If we were to have gotten something out of the game we should have got at them more. City were nervous and were there for the taking.
Christ man! We lost by 2 cos we got hit on the break going for the equaliser! Had Nelson tucked one of his in we'd have had a draw. It's a fine line. If you can't see the positives in that performance there's something really wrong.
Can't believe what I'm reading here, are we really happy with a 3-1 defeat? The tactics from the kick off were awful, once we handed the initiative to City and they scored, we had the proverbial mountain to climb, and there was only going to be one result after that. Yes, there were some encouraging performances, but someone please explain to me the point of bringing on Cisse for 5 minutes, what the hell was he going to do in that amount of time?
Context!!! League champions away from home. Diakite, Mbia and Cesar to come in for contention will firm things up. Faurlin only just back and Granero just landed! Miracles don't happen overnight, they'd have had 1 light training session together at most!
Seldom have I been so happy with a 3:1 defeat. Loads to be encouraged about and incoming players will make difference. Bring on the Chelsea!
Went into the game with an open mind... First half wasn't so great but second half much improved, loads of positives, looks like we got some gems. Don't forget Mackie Taarbat Diakate Holliet didn't play today . Green started off very shaky but started to command his area as the game went on, still work to be done though. Overall a good work in progress me thinks
Really would have liked to have seen Tarbs there, to replace SWP at some point. Shame he didn't even make the squad, he likes playing in big games, so I have no idea why he didn't make it.
Sorry, I don't buy the "it was the champions away" excuse. Personally, I wouldn't have started Faurlin in such a difficult game before he's fully match fit, and I accept that Granero is still to find his feet. But that doesn't excuse the first half tactics. I'm not looking miracles, just decent tactics from the manager
Are you having a laugh? City could have been out of sight at half time. 3-1 was a fair reflection of the match. What I will admit is that in the final 15 mins I thought there was only going to be one team to score, us.
