I don't know what happened there? I don't think he'll be missed. His end product is nil. There was a post stating he struggled because he played in an attack that wasn't producing the goods. Egg and chicken and all that. He never looked capable of taking the game to the opposition or grabbing a game by the scruff of the neck. He attitude is rank as well or so I've been fairly well informed. I'm not in the slightest bit arsed he's gone. He's just not very good IMO.
I don't like how we have let him go as it basically means we are stuck playing 3-5-2 which Bruce clearly thinks plays to our strengths as it allows us to get two strikers on the pitch and Koren in the middle however. Koren plays to deep, our strikers very rarely score and Bruce has decided to change the one part of our system that was working. On Quinn my friend is a Sheffield United fan and basically said if you play him out wide he gets lost and you need to play him in the centre and that he doesn't get stuck in and is very lazy but quality in the final third. So where does that leave Koren in that system? My view is simple clearly the Allams are backing up what they said one time, they said there plan was to have a strong XI and less/weaker back up which is clearly whats happening unfortunately. I look at the bench for Saturday and i doubt there is very much that can change the game from the bench. I am not anti-Bruce i think its brilliant he is willing to change an work systems but its not working, i like most of his signings and i think his scouting network is good, but i have been left disillusioned(sp.)
You just highlighted what seems like a random sentence. I have no idea what you're on about. It was a really simple post stating that Stewart, whatever you think of him, obviously can shoot pretty well as shown by his goal against Ipswich. If you just quote a post, highlight a random sentence and say it's bollocks, it's hard to really know what you're getting at. My guess though is that once again it's just you having a massive problem with anyone rating players you don't like, or not rating players you think we should like. If you're not questioning his technique then there isn't a debate to be had, because that's the part I was arguing with. Now you've changed your mind and we agree he can shoot, there's no problem. I'm not actually a massive Stewart fan at all, I just know that he is a skillful player and capable of a bit of magic now and then. Whether that comes often enough is definitely questionable, but you can't say he doesn't have ability.
I was surprised today when I got wind of this off a colleague. "Stewart? Really?" I stammered out, aghast, betwixt chugs of decaff coffee. "I'm a bit surprised at that" I continued. But then I thought, well, he hasn't done much for quite a while. Might do him good. This Quinn lad sounds like a gutsy, workhorse player who can drive forward as well. The opposite, basically, of Stewart. I wouldn't mind seeing Stewart come back, as he has undoubted ability. But he's a fadge. No two ways about it. I think that'll be it for him, from a Hull City point of view.
Yep looks like i dont like him here doesnt it. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/130071-Get-off-Cameron-Stewart-s-back/page2 Every pro in the game can strike a ball well, but putting it in the net isnt the be all and end all is it- oh wait yes it is. His body language has been **** this season, sulks and a poor attitude. Bruce has put a rocket up his arse, its up to him now how his career goes.
Loaning him out to another championship club makes no sense at all... if he plays well his value will rise but burnley will do well and we don't want that, if he doesn't do well then we'll end up flogging him for nothing.
Most of our team can't strike a ball well. That's why Stewart's stands out. I'm not saying he's an amazing player, but someone said he can't shoot and it was bollocks. That's all I'm saying.
Seems to have split opinion this one, after thinking about it I think we need end product at the moment so maybe better that Stewart gets some experience elsewhere. I'm sure he's is not a 'fadge' as somebody has put it, lots of wingers have an apathetic stance about them, he's an attacking player.
For me one of Stewarts biggest problems has been that he's playing on the left not the right. He has no left foot, so when he beats his man on the outside down there the cross is always going to be poor. On the right he can beat a man then get a ball into a dangerous area straight away.
Only Koren, he scores goals too but that doesnt matter really does it. Rosenior strikes a ball well, Chester, Faye Dudgeon, Mckenna, Evans, Mclean, TC, Prozzy, Oli. Even Craig ***an can strike ball well, he just couldnt hit the fukin target. I hope Stewart gets his head together and decides he really wants it. But some players fall out of love with the game. A lot of Man U youth players are good but have it so easy as they play in the best team, when they get released and have to knuckle down to the Championship it finds them lacking in determination and fight. As always TWT
I rate Quinn highly but if your after a gutsy workhorse player, he is not the player we should be signing.
Fair enough. I listened to the interview that someone posted somewhere, talking about leaving Sheff U. The way he talked, it sounded as though he was one of those players who loved working hard and bombing about. I know nothing about him though, other than he's a carrot top.
To be fair my views are only from two fans who i know personally so obviously they maybe biased, they said he was lazy and so annoying, but they said he was amazing on the ball and could easily do it at this level, which i hope he does of course.
IMO Stewart strikes the ball no better than anyone else in the squad. I'm sure any of our first XI could 'strike the ball well' But being able to do that doesn't make a good player, Stewart IMO fits into the same group as Craig ***an and (to an extent) Theo Walcott. Blistering pace, a few decent tricks, But can't cross, and aren't natural goalscorers. It all adds up to a winger lacking one of the main characteristics of a winger. 9/10 last season Brady was the same. If the Penalty areas were 10ft wider his crosses would have been deadly. (although Brady could cross better than Stewart) This argument about 'Striking the ball' is a strange one, Because IMO Andy Dawson can strike a ball well, and has much more end product than Stewart. I'd agree with that, He joined us as a RM and was playing well, Swapped him to the left and he hasn't got close to re creating his form. I was hoping that Stewarts problem last season was due to fatigue, after no real rest after his injury (Because IMO Barmby daren't drop him because of Leicester sniffing around). Hopefully a few games on loan, get a bit of confidence back, and we either get him back or cash in.
But weirdly, some of his best contributions to goals have been from the left when he used to take his man on and pull it back. For some reason he stopped doing that for ages and it coincided with his loss of form. What I said was really simple; there are more factors to scoring goals than simply being able to shoot. The player who scores the most isn't necessarily the best finisher, and the best finisher isn't necessarily the best scorer. Far too many people think it's just about who scores the goals. Andy Dawson can strike a ball pretty well but he'll never be a goalscorer for several reasons. All you're doing by trying to take the piss out of it is demonstrating a lack of understanding and that you're one who can't look past stats. Coincidence that you also mentioned Dawson there. Once again, I'm not arguing that Stewart is brilliant but someone said he couldn't shoot and it isn't true. There are plenty of players in our team who can't strike a ball. I don't need to mention the one that frustrates me most because everyone already knows and they'll only moan about it, but Corry Evans is another, bizarrely Tom Cairney is another even though he's brilliant on the ball, but he makes up for it with placed and dinked shots, McLean can strike it but rarely in the right direction.
How is saying Stewart cant shoot obviously not true? You cant name other people and use their performance as justification for your argument. Personally I wouldn't know if Stewart can shoot. He never does in the first place. What did he have last season 2 goals? Both deflections if memory serves me? I have never seen any evidence that the boy can shoot with any skill.
I personally think it is the right move for him at this time. He certainly hasn't been performing to the best of his ability, and a fresh challenge might be just the right thing for him at this time. If come January he has found his mojo back, then it can only be good for us, whether we keep him or sell him for a good price.
