I still rate Dempsey highly. He's not a £20m player, as he's 29, but £4m is pretty insulting considering he was the star player for us last year. I understand his logic in trying to get that last big move, but he's been badly let down by his agent and to a lesser extent by Liverpool.

Dempsey's work rate and positioning is very good. He's not brilliantly suited to a rigid system as he has a tendency to drift into the box (which does lead to goals), but is very good in a fluid system. He is great in the air and his finishing is better than Suarez (if you combined the two, you'd have a really great player!). I think he'd be good for Liverpool slotted in behind Suarez, but I feel you don't deserve him if you won't even go to £5m for him.

 

Then the next question has to be: what kind of target list for strikers amounts to one player you only rate as worth 4 million? Keeping in mind we did everything in our power to get rid of one worth approx 15million.

I was all for reducing the wage bill getting rid of the older & ****e players but reducing it for what purpose?

This isn't a FSG out type rant just genuinely confused that our list was so short for an area the manager deems falling short?

To add: apparently Sturridge scuppered the loan deal because he insisted on a permanent move.

 

I've managed to miss 3 of the goals by channel flicking.

 

I fear you could be in a relegation fight this year...

Next question: if we indeed did offer a swap: Henderson for Dempsey are we now saying the player we paid 18 million for is now only worth £4 million now?

If liverpool only rate Dempsey at £4 million then that's it. If Fulham won't accept that then so be it. Plenty of us redmen never wanted him in the first place so no skin off our noses.

Eccelstone is off to blackpool so he is not an option either we are going to have a really thin squad this year seeing as lucas probably not back to just before January
