Another Villa target Wilfried Bony remains keen on a move away from Vitesse Arnhem, but has seen talks regarding a switch to Aston Villa hit a stumbling block.
Compared to how I felt this time yesterday when it was first mentioned, I was starting to hope and pray that it went through - part of me still is, regardless of what twitter says
Another player that can be unplayable on his day, but again it doesn't happen often enough. Always does well against us though
the problem with trying to sign a striker this late in the window, especially a first team regular, is that the selling club has no time to replace him! i still expect we'll have to go with what we've got and try to add a loan forward before the loan window shuts.
In January I was standing at a bar with a Swansea fan. As far as we were concerned Ryan Bennett was going there. The change of heart made my night. Looking for something similar tonight.
I'm not so sure.... I think a lot of these deals are like a pack of cards, that is we will let "X" go, if we manage to bring in "Y", so deals get hung up for ages waiting for the first transfer. I'm pretty sure a lot of the phoning round that CH has referred to is along those lines. Most clubs will have been contemplating options and transfer chain opportunities and it just takes one deal to work to trigger a series of others.
From which I conclude that adding a striker has not been that high on CH's list of priorities (though no doubt, as always, an eye has been kept on possibilities). I presume that when ICHB says any signing we make now will be "a panic buy", he means "is going to be seen by the usual blockheads as a panic buy". The only noticeable panic is among a few fans and, fortunately, they aren't managing the club.
oh, you're absolutely right! its the domino effect, but we are certainly leaving it to chance and relying on other clubs to get replacements in a short space of time, whether deals have been ongoing for some time or not! these deals may be in place but none of them have kicked off yet
If he was around 24 or 25 years old I would of accommodated the idea of signing him. I think we need someone younger, someone we can develop from a lower league club or a player who has got the job done in a top league.
he's 28 for goodness sake. he's hardly ancient. i'd argue he's the perfect age, matured, knows his game inside out. we aren't able to afford the type of striker you want who has scored goals reguarly in the top flight and if you would prefer someone a bit younger then they probaly won't be good enough to step straight up to the plate.
