We also sold or let 14 players go. So replacing 14 championship players with say 14 better classed premiership players is REALLY clueless. We are also in the bottom half of the transfer money paid league so we are not throwing 10s of millions on players that warm the bench :)
The question of Gelling is valid and we'll have to see how that goes :)

Aren't you worried that maybe you're changing things to fast?

I'm hoping the players they get are experienced enough to adapt to each other quite quickly....but there's always the chance it'll backfire which I think most of you guys here hope reading some of the comments. It won't be a walk in the park like some of my fellow QPR supporters think. But if they can get their act together then come January we hopefully won't need to buy anyone else and things will settle down somewhat. Someone else mentioned we're 'chucking money at the problem and how well that's worked' somewhat sarcastically. But it HAS worked as the money we earned just by getting into the premier league has eclipsed any transfer money we've spent in the last few years. We don't expect to be challenging for top 6 places in the near future at all...mid table obscurity will do most of our supporters. We were in administration and on our knees in League 1 not that long ago. I for one am going to enjoy the wealth and position we have now. Our future is rosier although some on the outside just looking at transfers we're making think we will implode....and even worse hoping we will. Good luck for the coming season :)

That's fair enough <ok> You have made some decent signings and will have enough to stay up, let's just hope you're not offering mega wages and it comes back to bite you in the future. But if it's securing a long lasting future in the EPL then I wouldn't worry to much what others think. Good luck to you too :emoticon-0150-hands

That's what happens when players are put on large salaries, I wish he would leave, we'd get such a fair amount for him and we need it to re-invest

Tony Barrett from the Times says we are set to sign Samed Yesil, 18 year old striker from Leverkusen for £1m.

Know nothing about the fella, but from the name alone, he sounds like a German born Turk? on recent form, they've turned out to be decent players (Ozil, Kadera, Sahin..) here's hoping!

Don't know much about the kid but here are some stats:

    Club: Bayer 04 Leverkusen
    Position: Forward
    Height: 1,78
    Place of birth: Düsseldorf
Date of birth (age): 25/05/1994 (17)
    Nationality: Germany/Turkey
    Country: Germany

    National Stats:

FIFA Under 17's World Cup Mexico 2011
    3 Games
    2 Goals

    Germany U17
    17 Games
    15 Goals

    Germany U16
    2 Games
    3 Goals

    Club Stats:

    2010/11 Season

    B-Jgd. BL West
    14 Games
    22 Goals
    2 Assists
    1240 Minutes

    A-Jgd. BL West
    7 Games
    2 Goals
    427 Minutes

    Who is he like?:
    Miroslav Klose

Samed plays as the Number 9 striker who is gifted at Poaching, most of his goals have been them much like Klose, seems a tad quicker than Miroslav has ever been, maybe a new age German striker, but i believe he has show he can score at all levels he has played at thus far and his ability to get goals and Poachers type of goals will give him a great chance of becoming a big player.

Why has he not broken into the German first 11 when their whole philosphy is young players?

There seems to be a good talent pool in Germany and Uruguay - hopefully we can tap into them a little more!

Julian Draxler is only 18 (same as Yesil). In a International team with very few forwards (Klose, Gomez and Cacau, two of these being 31+) I would expect to see this lad being at least on the bench.

Please tell me this is not as far as your footballing intelligence can reach?

There are players who are 18/19/20 years old who are no where near that bench who will probably end up being the main striker in years to come. <doh>

I was merely asking why he hasn't been given a shot in the first team since his U-18/19 record is so good.

Fair point - but teams like Arsenal, Dortmund and Bayern were all after him as well so the lad must have something about him.

It seems he is a goal poacher with great movement and intelligence. Very quick and hard working. There's a really good quote from him - "I don't care if I get hurt or kicked. I just want to score."

Lack of opportunities maybe? He would have been 16/17 leading up to the Euros, so Lowe probably wouldn't want to take up a space of a more experienced striker by experimenting with youth before a major tournament. It's just ridiculous to start asking these questions at this stage.
