Phew! I wouldn't have put it past City though :D

I'm now staying schtumm on this transfer until it's done though.

It was, I saw it so I thought I'd look it up. I could only find it on Twitter, the story is being rubbished. Thought I would scare a few on here though. <cheers>

Seems like I got YV a bit. :bandit:

Didn't fool me at all. BTW don't look at several other threads where I appear to be having a panic over the rumour #needalaydown

I really hope we sign him, for three reasons:

1) He has my third favourite name in football, just behind:
Dederic Boyata + Aruna Dindane

2) Whenever I hear his name, something in my subconcious repeats the name in the style of the Gungan king from Star wars..... go ahead it's fun....

"Moooouuussssaaa Deeembellle....meeee'saaaa liiiiiiikkkee"

3rdly....

He is exactly what we need to open teams up. His main asset is running at people and turning them, which at the moment we do not do. We can run around them with Bale and Lennon but not through, his passing is also pretty good, and as a modric replacement I think he is ideal. Yeh he will do a different Job, but we have a different system and AVB is looking for a player that will "provoke" teams into either closing down in areas they don't want too, turning to face their own goal, or simply drawing fouls. In many ways he is more suited to what we need in our new formation than modric, who was very good at maintaining possesion, but not opening people up as often as he should.

Ultimately if us selling modric buys Dembele and Lloris, (not including any possible benefits of the Real partnership) then it is business well done.
Newcastle proved that you can re-invest in better players with Cabaye, Tiote, Ba etc.
(obvously Liverpool showed us all how to blow stupid money on players like carrol, downing and Adam <whistle>

hopefully we'll get willian and moutinho. both do exactly the same thing. you're right, we have no one who does that at the moment. well, not centrally anyway. obviously bale does on the left.

Can't see us getting Moutinho Roo. Porto are being right stingy f*ckers with their price demands. Think that's why we've gone for Dembele (who I thinks a cracking player anyway and far better value for money). Would really like Willian too, think Lennon will definitely be seeing more of the bench if we do get him.

Porto have apparently turned down a £39.5m offer for Hulk from Zenit St Petersburg.
Crazy money.

Porto have two players in mountinho and hulk that could sell for near to 60 million (combined) but they don't seem be in any rush to sell.

So anti-Chelsea they aid them with their public approaches for other teams' players.

I don't have all day to list the proof they are anti-Chelsea but anyone that is a regular Viewer of SSN can see it.

A recent example is Sky falsely reporting that Torres' offside goal against Reading denied them a win when in fact the teams were level at the time, that was the headline they ran with every half hour for an entire day, nothing was said of our dominance throughout the game (27 shots to their 7, 72% possession to their 28%). In contrast nothing was mentioned of Tevez's offside goal against Southampton only 2 days ago.

Given Sky used to part own United and major shareholders still do (I think) and Sheikh Mansour is the biggest investor in Sky's expansion to the Middle East, not to mention the publicity they gain from the derby it doesn't surprise me they have discarded Liverpool as their 2nd favourite and love City now.

I'm optimistic. he is one of AVB's most wanted. we've made some good money from sales, there could be more to come, and we've just had £33mill come in from RM. - that's before we use anything that we might have set aside.

Dembele is a quality player, but we've got to replace Modric. I think moutinho is the man and I can see it happening. I honestly see him and the striker being the final 2 through the door, but it'll go to the wire.

fingers crossed!
