Well from the sounds of it he was at least partially at fault for the winning goal tonight. He got caught ball-watching against Brighton and nearly cost us a goal after coming on, likewise against Charlton on Saturday. He's not a bad header of the ball, which makes him just about perfect for League Two. Head-tennis is virtually compulsory there.
But as doveston says, nothing's changed. We still can't score and we still lose in the cup to **** sides. Differece is Bruce has had £2.6m to spend.
Agree, although I think I may have preferred him to Bruce. I guess well never really know but my biggest worry about nick would have been his use of the transfer market. Nick managing Bruce's signings this season would have been interesting. I personally thought it was maybe a little early for nick to be the führer but tactically I think I'd take him over Bruce. I agreed with his footballing philosophy and it was effective most the time I just didn't agree with his reluctance to mix it up at times which I believe is a mistake he would have learned from after it cost us with the shambles near the end of last season.
Every post on here is open to be challenged no matter who made it. We're all big boys (and maybe some big girls) so hopefully we can all defend our own views.
I'm surprised that everyone else is surprised that we lost tonight. I was convinced we would lose before the game started. It's the league cup, we always lose. We don't win at doncaster very often either! I even had Doncaster on my accumulator that would have come in had burnley not decided to concede in injury time! I actually think losing McKenna may be a blessing in disguise. Personally I think he is one of the reasons we are so negative, he hardly gets out our half! Don't get me wrong I think he is a decent player but it will be good to see how we get on with two more attack minded players in the middle
Were even more negative now, 5 defenders and 2 holding midfielders, twatting it long to a big German pudding who cant time a jump anywhere near right.
He's a tactically inept idiot who got shown up for what he is at Sunderland. MON took the same bunch of players Bruce had and turned them into a different team. The tactics are ****, the substitutions are baffling and absolutely nothing has changed from last season. Sacking barmby was a mistake and its set us back a year. I wasn't NB's biggest fan last season but he would have learned from his mistakes and taken this club forwards this season.
Chester was also partially at fault for the Blackburn goal but we're not planning to burn him at the stake yet. Just give the bloke a fair chance.
well the big german didn't play tonight, and we were 2 nil up, didn't see or hear anyone complaining then. All tonight proves is that Simpson and Mclean deserve a chance up front and that Oli, Stewart and dawson aren't good enough.
Well exactly. There are some ****ish comments on this thread to be challenged, but most are reacting to low level trolling. Gets embarrassing when it's Leicester, Leeds, Sunderland fans and the like on here looking for a reaction.
Yes, but Chester has proven himself to be our best defender, and one of the better defenders in the division. Bruce was released by one of the worst defensive sides in the league, after ending the season so out of favour he couldn't even make the bench. Youth players with relatively little experience, like Tom Lees, were being picked ahead of him. As Ristac said, what other Championship side would have signed him? It wouldn't be so bad if he was in the reserves, behind Chester, Cooper, Faye, and McShane (yes, even him), but he's actually started the last two league games (and both of them away matches). It's a disgrace, he's a disgrace, and so is his father for doing it.
He was mainly at fault, hes kicked the ball straight at the striker when he could have put it literally anywhere else. I fail to see how him ONLY being responsible for one goal in 2 games is a good thing anyway.
I'd much rather have NB back... nothing's changed... decent group of players, can't ****ing play football TOGETHER... ****ing piss take really. At least watching city was more pleasing on the eye last season. I just don't get where things are going wrong... we have funds, a ****ing decent group of players and a manager with pedigree... anyways this is ****ing pointless Bruce will be given all season probably.
Of course we never threw away a 2 goal lead under Barmby after making a needless substitution, did we?
It just seems to me that the knives were out before either of the Bruces got here and that's pretty bad. You admit that a lot of what you think is based on Alex Bruce's previous reputation rather than what he does in a City shirt. That's your decision, but as I've said I'll give both of them a fair chance.
