You do realise you are as likely to be involved in a car accident this year as seeing your team win the FA cup? You have more chance of Drowning than seeing the Saints win the league. I'll not even go into the odds of you ever winning the Europa or Champions league: you'll definitely have been struck by lightening or eaten by a shark before that happens.. Sorry to depress you like; just saying it must suck to be you.
Ugh, how boring! I usually like to read posts before I delete them but with this guy I can't even be arsed to do that.
Ha ha ha so it's the old my owner (dead or alive) is worth x on paper so we'll magically get all that "cash" on players plan eh? Oh and I love your optimism regarding your academy; good as it maybe (just saying its the best in the world doesn't make it so you know)but why worry when your club has 3 billion to spend eh? City fans must be jealous! Or did you mean that's what you are worth? If so, I'm impressed! just back up and worth over double what United a valued at! And you need to fill a 50k stadium each week to pay the wages of all those brilliant players you're going to somehow attract despite having no global image to speak of. Your owner whoever the estate falls to after probate can't continue the trick of converting loans into shares forever you know. All with FFP to boot. So when you said you'd explain it in detail you really meant you'd write a list of hopes & dreams. I like your enthusiasm, I'll ignore it being based largely on a wet dream.
FOOTBALL The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Fulham's Clint Dempsey remains Liverpool's primary target and Reds midfielder Jay Spearing is set to join Bolton on a season-long loan deal and the Anfield club will listen to offers for Charlie Adam.
Would love to see Cole, Spearing and Adam out - there are far too many mediocre central midfielders at this club. Cole's wages alone should significantly reduce the wage bill.
Yip, I'd give him away to get rid of the 90k a week because let's face it, no club is going to pay a transfer fee plus those wages for a 30 something with a hamstring injury & a history of glass legs are they? As for the other two we might get a couple of mill for each but not much more.
I have mixed feelings about Spearing: my head says he has to go because he's not up to standard quality wise but he's always bust a gut for us. Makes me seethe a little more at the likes of Downing who seems to be continually shrugging his shoulders.
Jay Spearing is maturing like red wine and is going to be the future crown and glory of this red team. He stays!
I love Jay, but I want him to move on, for a couple of reasons. He is not going to get a great amount of match time in a red shirt, so I'd prefer him to go be great elsewhere and prove everyone wrong, just like Murphy did at Fulham. It was a massive mistake to sell spud, and I think Jay can do just as well. Would love to see him get an England call up in the future. But alas, for me he is too small to be essential to our plans, and when we have Connor Coady on his way up and with Kelly virtually there, we will have another brace of sousers at the heart of the team.
Well, ok, a more serious post: Every team needs a Spearing. Someone who isn't flashy, no ego, low pay and someone happy with his squad role. He bleeds for this team and that's what you get when you play him, passion. City almost folded last season because they had a bunch of merceneries and egos who didn't care about the club, they had to recall Tevez to get some fire. Look at the FA cup every year, teams with passion regularly get the upper hand over 'better' squads because they want it more. We need people like that blended in around our first team. He cost us nothing. He's on low wages. He loves the club. He does a job in them middle when called upon and isn't half as bad at possession football as people make out. He's fine being a bit-part player and won't upset the wagon. Why are people so insistant on getting rid? Don't undersand it.
Because he isn't good enough. We struggled last season without Lucas and it was evident. We lost Lucas against Man City but we didn't miss him as much - why? Because Allen did more of a job than Spearing ever could.
i agree, he's at an age where frankly, totally selfishly i want him to make himself a millionair somewhere and play. he can do a warnock on it. why hand round LFC on very low money with very low chances just cos you love the palce then look back at 28 having left on a free and think god what am i to do now? Spearing is a lovely pro, really hard wokring and can cut it someplace where he can make the cash too... we have to look to top 4. Coady worries me though... hes not really developed at all in the past 12 months and he should have been going o ntour this summer but didn't... i can't rememebr why (injury? form?) but he's nowhere near a squad space... then again wisom and suso who i rate highly don't seem to be either...
