Hoddle wasn't a success.
A cup final appearance and European football... to Spurs at that time, it was successful
Did he sign Honda dotted line?
By that definition, Ramos would be a success - much more of a success than Hoddle, given he actually won said cup.
Hoddle seemed to combine the worst of Harry and Ramos, if anything - he froze out a lot of players, he tinkered with one eye on the Worthington Cup final that stopped out league performances dead, and he went on a long streak without a win as well.
Hoddle is what happens when you want a crowd-pleasing choice as manager, rather than the sensible choice.
