As much as I used to hate Gary Neville as a player, I think he is the best football 'pundit' on tv today. He talks sense with no bias. No I'm not drunk. Thoughts.
Yep he has been surprisingly good, I'm not saying I like him.. i just dislike him less now? But yeah, it's good to see he hasn't developed a Man United bias at all, it's good for Pundits to remain impartial and professional. Pundits like Charlie Nicholas really need to take note
Yup, mentioned this last year. One of, if not the best on Sky Sports. Nice to see he's not biased and maybe after coming out of football so soon he has a decent insight into the game unlike those others that haven't played football in 30 years.
Even though it pains me to say this but I 100% agree, he's not biased which I thought he would have been when he started and his analysis is spot on. However I still miss Andy Gray's commentating Football games on Sky just dont feel right anymore without that geezer
I actually agree, I'll never forget his commentary on the Liverpool v Olympiakos game, you can't write stuff like that !
Agree fully. Used to dislike him with a passion until I saw him blanking schmeichel once schmeichel went to City and just stayed staring ahead focused. Then he won't say hello to his brother Phil when unt play Everton and you realise he just gives everything he does his full commitment and passion, I then stopped taking it personally about his behavior toward LFC. Apparently been putting in work with Kelly on his England juties so not a bad word for him now (well not too many).
Tbh i still 'hate' the prick just like outside of his TV commitments he still 'hates' us, but when he got the job at Sky he was obviously told he had to show no favouritism towards the mancs(which he doesn't)and no anti Liverpool bias(which he hasn't). He tells it like it is and fair play to the rodent.
Got to disagree PMK, who the **** in Sky is going to tell him to be fair to us! Not seen any sign of it from anyone else there, just think he is more professional than we like to give him credit for.
TAC, I never said 'fair to us', i said 'no anti Liverpool bias'. And i believe he has done that(amazing what rats can be taught these days.)
I got a bit of a ribbing for suggesting this last season. I would like to add that like I did then, I still think he's a manc twat.
Not as complacent as other Mancs, so less hateable when he opens his gob (except for that accent. Vile. 'Fust'.) I also like the way he never forgets they're called Manchester United and Manchester City, not pretending they have a monopoly over the 'United' and 'City' which are commonly used by other clubs. Fair play to him for being a good pundit.
Pretty insightful observations mate! Neville is a superb pundit to be fair, I cannot think of anyone other than Lee Dixon who comes close to knowledge, tactical nous and up to date psychological aspects of the game. To be honest he stands out more because of how poor the others are, but that's not his fault. It's a testament to him that since he entered the field he has shown up just how poor pundits are in general; the likes of Claridge, Redknapp, Savage and Lawro really are a sad reflection of the intelligence in general of British players and emphasize along with the technique of players just why we struggle to compete internationally. I used to like Hansen; sadly he is still a relic of his earlier years and has failed to adapt over the years, I saw him for the first time in years last season and you easily could have been mistaken in thinking it was a recording of 1998, saying exactly the same things, same cliches and same jokes, just the small detail of 14 years passing!
He is by far the best pundit I'd despite his whiny ****ing voice, I'd rather listen to him than any of the others. However, I still dislike him as much as before
