Which player(s) should city either pay allot of money for or get on a free?

I would like to see a left mid, lest back and striker. Along with the obvious singing of Gerrard and Ayala. I think Gerrard would cost 500k if we don't swap him with oli. Ayala about the same:)

Nah, Ayala would cost at least £3m, I think Hobbs is a more realistic perminant signing and Gerrard would probably cost slightly more (about £1m IMO but i'd still do that), what you have to think of is that Cardiff don't want Gerrard now, if they go up, why would they want him in a harder league. Left back, don't know who there is. Left midfield, maybe George Boyd from Peterborough? And for a striker we can send McLean back to Peterborough and take Craig Makail-Smith instead. <laugh> Steve Morison from Millwall, how much would he cost though?

I like the sound of Martyn Waghorn. Another Leicester reject who Pearson got the best of and is a big lad who knows where the net is. Available at around 1.2 apparently. Opinions?

I'd be surprised if they let him go that cheaply, they only signed him this season for £3m.

Watford want at least £3m for Graham(they turned down two Swansea bids in January, though I don't think they were anywhere near that level) and Millwall want similar money for Morison.

Morison only cost £130k, Graham also only a few hundred grand, the secret is to discover them in the first place.

He's one of those strikers I could imagine paying a decent amount and not bieng that influencial. Could any Leicester fans tell us if he's good/bad?

Oh and if we keep going City will be 'League 1 Leicester and Man Utd youth' City <laugh>

To be honest i get the impression he might be a bit of a white Mclean, still it may be worth a try at the price which is suggested Derby are offering?

'League 1 Leicester and Man Utd youth'- It seems to be working at the mo. In NP we trust

I saw someone claiming that we were signing left winger Julian Gray from Wallsall on a free, but at 31 he doesn't seem like the sort that Pearson would go for.

More interestingly, someone else was claiming that we've agreed to take Blackpool winger Matt Phillips on loan for next season. He seems much more likely, a 20 year old who's in the England youth set up and is a tricky winger similar to Stewart.

He's only started 4 games this season, but has appeared as a sub in 20 games, maybe they'd want him out to get more regular football?

matt phillips has looked excellent when i've seen him play. i'd imagine if they went down - which i'd expect they will - he'll be in their plans for next season.

Adam Le Fondre? Consistantly scored more than 20 a season, is only 24 and is begging to be tried out at this level. I agree we do need a decent winger, if Swansea don't go up this season would it be worth bidding for Cotterill? Despite his teams performance on the opening day, he was by far and away their best player. I'll just do a list, seems much easier.

GK - Definetly the most important position we need to strengthen, a bid of £1.5m plus for Mannone should test Arsenal's resolve, especially if they are in for David De Gea/Pepe Reina as the papers state. Maybe even put in a buy back clause of something like £12m, to tempt them further. If not, then I'd go for Tomas Cerny of Hamilton. Yeah, they are bottom of the SPL, but he is a talent and has had a **** team in front of him all season. Wouldn't cost more than 400k I imagine.

DF - A bid for Gerrard is a no-brainer. It does not necessarily hinge on them going up, as all parties have said, the ball is in Ant's court. If Cardiff do go up, it would be hard to imagine them not buying new defenders, putting Gerrard on the back burner. Hobbs I would have thought is another one who we will see permanently next season, although I doubt he will come cheap. Those two aside, I would have thought Ayala is a bit too ambitious, unless he wants to join on a full season loan. Sean St. Ledger (Preston) or Seb Hines (Boro) would do me just fine, the former we could swap for Kilbane/Garcia (give Phil back his favourites?). LB isn't much of a concern, as of next season I would have thought Chester would play there, with Dawson and Bradley to cover. At RB we have Rosenior and Liam Cooper can also play there.

MF - As I mentioned above, Cotterill would make a decent addition and is the right side of 25 for NP (His middle name is also George Best, that alone should warrant him being signed!). Devitt I think can leave, or at least on loan, he looks too lightweight despite his good feet. Oli can also go, for his wages we could probably get the majority of players I have listed above. The rest of the midfield is fine, I expect Belaid to get offered a contract so that's right wing covered, along with Danny Emerton and Gavin Holohan as back up for both sides.

FW - Not too much of a crisis area, Fryatt and Simpson are looking in good form and NP has no reason to replace them. McClean unfortunatley hasn't settled as well as we would have hoped, so maybe loan him back to Peterbrough? Le Fondre would be a decent acquisition, but Danny Ings from Bournemouth I think is on NP's radar after impressing this season and he may be the big front man we need. Him aside, and I always suggest him, I would love to see Derek Riordan at City. He just seems to have the right mentality for the club, despite not being called up for Scotland, he continues to perform week in week out and can also operate as a left winger, which would provide cover for Cameron Stewart.

What about taht lad from Man city? John Guidetti. Maybe Febbos would have heard of him.

"He enjoyed a fine season with Manchester City Under-18 team, scoring 13 times in 13 appearances. He also marked his reserve team debut with a remarkable hat-trick against a Burnley side containing several seasoned campaigners.[3] Before the start of the Swedish 2010 season Djurgårdens IF made a strong attempt at signing him on a loan deal for the whole season, but instead he ended up going on loan to his old club IF Brommapojkarna, achieving a impressive 3rd spot in Sweden attacking efficiency table scoring 3 goals and 4 assists in only 7 starts and 1 sub appearance.[1]"

TBH I first noticed him on Football manager but having looked into him he looks exactly what we need.

All good calls so far but I think we have to have so much belief in how well we will continue to utilise the loan market. It's worked wonders this season and I'm sure it will again next.

I think we will get or at least offer for the following players:
Mannone - (season loan or £2m) Guzan if we dont get Mannone
Einhoff - Free
Robinson (l'pool) - Loan
Gerrard - Swap for Oli
Hobbs - £1.5 m
Ayala - £2 mil
New RB on loan who can cover CB

Couple of wingers (likely to be loans), Belaid to get a full deal
A CM

Going out I see ***an, Gardner, Duke ont getting a new contract, Bullard, Koren, McShane, Oli, Kilbane and Ghilas been sold for a total fee of around £5 m
