I thought Del Piero had retired?

Also could that be the striker Nixon was talking about earlier that everyone thought was Heskey

He's a free agent. Said he really wanted to come to England and would on cut-price, reasonable wages.

Incredible player, if his legs hold up. Nixon called the player 'no good'; surely can't be the same one?

I really can't see it. He's probably still good enough, but we don't need more strikers.

Have you seen him play in the last season or two?

Clearly an FM signing, bring him in for a season to tutor the youngsters then convince him to become a coach at the end of the season

Could he not play "in the hole" if Cortese really wanted him?

True enough, but he has never been an out-and-out striker. Could play in a variety of roles, and would be a great impact sub. Good influence on the youngsters too I'd imagine.

Sure, but so can Guly, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert and Lee.

Bring him on for shootouts in cups and last minute free kicks - unless there's a game where we don't need players to be able to move.

I know he scored on his last league appearance for Juve, so must have something still to offer. Also played 23 times for them in a championship-winning season, no mean feat.

Doesn't really fit into the mould of player we have been buying, i.e young and hungry. The PL is a lot faster than Serie A and having never played in it before it maybe a step too far at this stage of his career.

However, it is on a free and if the wages are low it couldn't do any harm I suppose.

I want to stick to our plan of developing young players...otherwise we are just the same as teams that fill up with experienced players past their prime. I am now going to sulk.

I just don't imagine that what he brings to matches is what this transfer would be about. Experience for youngsters, pulling in a small increase in shirt sales and gates (if that's a problem, which I'd really hope it isn't) and getting headlines to "increase company image".

This signing would reek of QPR.

Well, not really, because they've not signed anybody like him?

I hope this isn't a knee jerk signing instead of Ramirez. Perhaps we've bought him as a gift for Bologna?
