View attachment 17010 VS View attachment 17011 Championship footall returns to the Valley this season and the first oppenents for the current League 1 champions Chartlton Athletic come in the form of Leicester City. On the opening day of the season Charlton went away to Birmingham and would of come away with all 3 points if it weren't for a last gasp equaliser from Birmingham front man Zigic. Leicester however where able to win their first game of the season beating Peterborough 2-0 with goals coming from Morgan and King. Kermogant is up against his former club and will no doubt want to prove it was a big mistake for them to let him go! This will be a real test for us, Leicester are tipped to be right up there come the end of the season and looking at their squad on paper they have some great players and some real attacking threats in Beckford, Vardy, King and Marshall. That being said we only lost two games at home last season and again I expect us to be hard to beat at the Valley. I reckon another draw is on the cards and I'm gonna go for a 2-2.
We sold alot more then that I expect a close game. Both teams have managers who likes to keep things tight at the back and build on from there. Im going for a 1-0 away win Where I think we may have some joy is playing balls behind your back line with the pace of Dyer, Nugent, Beckford, Vardy, Knockaert and Marshall
Well this will be one of my few home games I get to see before I move back to uni (including missing Palace :'( ) but I'll be hoping for the best on tuesday night, especially seeing I go to university in Leicester and know a lot of Leicester fans. I reckon first goal is vital, I don't see this one being a draw but I do see it being very open with lots of chances but I see at least one of the goals being scrappy goal mouth scramble or simply shockingly bad defending (i.e free header). I think BWP will snatch one and would do anything for Kermogant to score especially a penalty seeing I assume he will get a bigger booing then Captain Hook at panto. As much as I rate our defence I can't see us shutting out Beckford, Nugent or King so I can see us needing at least 2 goals to win. We do always seem to put them past young Kasper Schmeichel for fun I think I've seen him 3 times against us and he's always conceded 3 or more but he is still a top quality keeper possibly the best in the league. Hope Paul Konchesky gets a nice round of applause or something but hopefully he has a stinker of a game against Green/Pritchard or who ever is on our right. Overall we need to be both lucky and good to beat Leicester a team I think will win this league this year. Fortress valley though BWP, Kermit and Hollands to get goals for me. 3-2 to the addicks Lets hope for the best
Proud, Marshall will get very little out of Wiggins Dyer will be slipped into Solly's pocket and stay there all game Beckford will be comfortably looked after by the 'new and improved' Morrow so that leaves Nugent against Cort... Cort has old head, long legs and reads the game well Doubt i Pritchard will play .... so ... Jackson against your right back.... Jacko's not a speedster but more of a thinker Green against your left back.... even we don't know what to expect from Green but if he comes to play then he is more than capable of causing a lot of trouble. Finally Kermit and BWP... as you know Kermit can score at any time from any position and BWP has some pace about him and can finish. May the best team in red win
No one not even John O'Shea could keep Marshall quiet. He is alot better now then when we signed him As for Dyer it depends how he plays and if he doesnt perform then Anthony Knockaert will come on. He is quick, skillful and very energetic. On his day he will be a right handful Beckford dont need looking after, most of the time he is too lazy but give him a chance and he will stick it away Nugent will probably just be the impact sub. Vardy will start If Waggy gets on the pitch he will have a point to prove to you but Chris Powell will know all about him. Just like Nigel knows about Yann
I wouldn't be so confident. Your players are not that good and ours not that bad. I expect an even contest but I also think we'll come out with the majority of the points.
Think they mean Waghorn... I think I thought it was Wagstaff too mhmmm apparently I needed to say this twice...
AKCJ I wasn't being so confident but... Wiggins was by far the best left back in L1 last season and was possibly MoM at St Andrews, Chris Solly was our PoTY last season and West Ham have been trying to buy him all summer, I said that Morrow was improved from the player we bought last summer which he is, Cort is vastly experienced which can be read as oldish, Kermit CAN score from anywhere just look at his goal against Hartlepool last season and I said that BWP has 'some' pace and can finish which his record over the past two seasons proves. Not sure where I am being 'so' confident? We are at home and playing quite well at present so shouldn't I predict a home win? If I didn't then why are we in this league? If I didn't then I wouldn't be much of a supporter would I? Anyway, after tomorrow night, I hope you do as well as your supporters wish
Because you've taken our best players who performed extremely well for us in this league last season and you reckon your players *who may well be world beaters in league one* are now in a much tougher league. -Marshall got the better of a lot of fullbacks last season (the best in the league), Including some you'll see making Premier League appearances in the coming months with their newly promoted sides. -I've never seen a fullback have a comfortable game against Dyer, never. He has unbelievable amounts of pace and those fullbacks without it will be ripped to shreds by it. Dyer's only downside is his severe lack of end product which can be aggravating. -Beckford, when all is said and done, is still a quality player. Give him a sniff and he'll pop it in the net. His work rate has improved massively too. -Nugent, the bloke who scored more than Yann in a higher league last season, will (if he even manages to start) be a constant goal threat. By all means underestimate us. We may well turn to **** tomorrow, but I wouldn't put any money on it. Good day chaps
Oh dear AK, once you have got down off that high horse of your perhaps you will accept that YOU are a Championship team and that WE are a championship team so until the 90 mins plus extra time has been played we will NOT actually know who is the better team. Last season Sheffield Wednesday were telling us that they were the only massive team in L1 and that they would win the league easily..... THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN.... funny old world isn't it
No one will be underestimating Marshall, I think he is probably your most dangerous player, but the confidence comes from Solly keeping him under control last season. He had Green with him at Hillsborough working his socks off to also help, but in the end Marshall literally was halted in his track and couldn't do anything against CS. I just hope Solly has a similar game tonight, because he can't be anything less than how he was that day, and indeed last season overall. Tough game, but one that I'm glad to have at the start of the season. I'd like to see how good we are, and playing a top Championship side will provide that challenge. I think it will be open, and even think we'll come from behind twice to draw 2-2. And when it's said our players aren't that good - you're right. Our team is.
Thats what im trying to tell you good luck after tomorrow, for the rcord I think you'll do very well this season and mght just gatecrash the Play-Off party if Yann and BWP can find ther scoring boots in this league.
You could argue the same with Nugent Beckford was the one who was supposed to score all the goals last season
Gonna be a bit quiet on here tonight... Always an indication of a really good crowd when I'm on me tod. COYR! Prediction 1-1.
I'm here tonight also Tewkes! Don't suppose you have a commentary for the game? I only have twitter updates to follow atm
Yes! Get in there!! Evening folks - Millwall one down, Palace two down, the Mighty Addicks one up and all's right with the World... Can't find a commentary anywhere, Belvedere.
