Time will tell if we've missed out or not.

Well, after seeing Fox inexplicably head the ball back into the danger area, for City's 3rd goal, I think we have missed out on an improvement of Fox...not sure if he is good enough for United though!

Dafuq? Looks like this might turn out to be a case of the one that got away...

Pretty sure a similar thing happened with us and Drogba years ago, under Strachan.

We put a bid in for Drogba but it went no-where. Much closer was Adebayor, who agreed terms with Saints but Lowe didn't like his attitude and pulled the plug.

Yep, had Adebayor at the ground and everything. Drogba was just, put in an offer, they went public saying they wanted £2.5m, we told them to jog on.

Not sure this qualifies as a missed opportunity, Dutch fans (like Cove on here) haven't said anything that makes me think he's Utd standard. Nobody even expected him to walk into our team.

we looked a bit short at LB today. i personally think we need a pacey LWB or LW. which phillips could play hes big fast and got good feet

Just to straighten things out, i'm not in particular a Dutch fan, I'm a journalist, I get paid to follow things like football, economics, politics and news from abroad.

And yea he's not ManU material, i'd be very surprised if Büttner gets more then 4 sub ins this season.

If Fox plays as good as he did today (bar the mistake he made with the header that Nasri scored) then we don't really need him, we've got Shaw as back up anyway.

I'd have to agree with this, but I think a LB will be coming in

Adkins said that we have two good left backs in Fox and Shaw, however I agree I'd like someone to push Fox for a starting place and to send Shaw out on loan.

I think Fox is likely to be fine against most teams in this league. You can't really judge him by his performance against Man City.

He was our weakest link today, but yup, it's harsh to rate anyone based on their performance against City. Especially as it is the opening day.

On the flip side, his set piece deliveries were great
