Its not just the ticket price, its life in general, there are an awful lot of city fans like me, who travel quite a fair way just to home games, for me its just over 80 miles round trip, which is nothing compared to some of the trips made by certain users of this forum, that journey and costs incurred make the 23 trips per season to the KC an expensive luxury, if you,re a family suffering in the current economic climate.
I could save a lot of money and spend more saturdays helping out my local side, but I can,t give up on following city, if I did, it would probably mean we could have a family holiday abroad, but after being a season pass holder since 1998, its hard to give it up.

Derby give loads of free tickets away to schools which personally I think is a good idea - gets the kids interested in their local team and stops them 'supporting' manure etc

I'm in Scotland so couldn't make the game.

I nearly got to see the Hearts match though after the twatting sat nav in my car took me into Edinburgh City Centre and directly by Tynecastle.

It had no need to and was titting me about all the way up here.
I don't know what I've done to upset it?

I'll get my ordinance survey out for the journey home.

    But 15000 is pretty poor.

I am lucky, in that after years of struggling to survive financially, I am now able to afford not only a season card, but the cost of travel. Life is full of ups and downs and in the past I know that I could not have afforded a pass whilst I had children to bring up. My grandsons pass at Southampton is just over £170, he is eight!

    I understand Party Hulls point.

By the way, Assam Allam wants to reduce the prices, but in the real world, until we are solvent as a club we have to pay a realistic price.

Instead of looking about the stadium and complaining about it perhaps you should all focus on the game and get behind the lads, having an empty stadium doesn't bother me since its always been like thaf apart from the last 5years? Due to promotion etc...theres probably numerous factors why the stadoum attendance is down...Hull is the worst place to find a job and unemployment in general then there is the recession, people on holiday but at the end of the day answer this....would you rather get lower attendances with loyal fans or have a full stadium (like derby) of people wjo are only there because they got in forfree and probably arent interested in Derby or football. I even think if we went up we wouldnt fill the stadium because of the economic climate in the area

Portsmouth's attendance was higher. Either the recession hasn't hit the South Coast, or we should be embarrassed that two-thousand fewer people turned up to watch us than did Pompey's bunch of kids and free agents in League One.

It's never been different as it was years ago its called apathy and fair weather supporters. I was always staggered about the so called supporters who use to crawl out of woodwork every time City had a good run then when it subsided they would crawled back from wherever they came from. My own relatives went from black and amber to black and white when the egg chasers were having a bit of success, some even became red and white with Rovers. And here I will raise my hand and say I am not the supporter I was, I just can't afford to be but I still follow City whenever I can, which is mostly through the medium of the internet.

I spent a fair bit of my income back in the days of the 60's - 70's and early 80's and don't regret one minute but I met many many fair weather supporters, and I mean fair weather. Get a bit of rain, snow or other inclement stuff and they were no where to be seen. And so it is with the comforts of the KC, if City gets any resemblance of success, like the top 3 then no doubt the fair weather people will return, unless Hull FC do even better of course.

17,000 would still be **** for an opening game when we've spent a fair bit and got a big-name manager. People moaned about so-called 'new' or 'plastic' fans when we got promoted the PL, but at the moment we're attracting no new fans at all and I know which I prefer.

    Assem won't allow it.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Presumable you agree that the season has started a week late, so apart from that I was simply saying that this season overlaps with summer by one less week than normal, so assuming most people holiday in the summer there should be less effect of holidays on attendances than normal seasons.

And that is exactly what we should be doing. They get 28,000 people in every week to watch a crap, perenially bottom-half team. we have promotion ambitions, we've got nowhere near the competition Derby have and we've had the quick PL venture like they had to gain some new fans, so we should be able to get a lot more than them but it really is down to Assem's crazy ideas of nobody coming into the ground on any kind of freebie, offer or promotion. All we're doing is keeping the same fans who will all eventually get fed up of it or die. It goes without saying that we need new fans like every other club but we don't seem to even want them.

They're regularly one of the top-supported teams in the division, it's not temporary and it's nothing to do with the away fans. I heard on FL show that they took 6,000 fans though.

the majority of the last 2 years home games have been boring as hell,
that wont effect the die hards, but i reckon its put a few of the floating voters off, when the goals start going in, people will come back..
im not saying i agree with that happening, but im afraid it does

That's a good point and although we won yesterday it looked alarmingly similar to last season. If it's going to change I think it'll depend on Proschwitz settling in and getting used to his team-mates' crosses to get on the end of them more often. Without a decent target man we're still just the same toothless team we were last season.

The Allams are making a big mistake not having more offers for kids. Our prices aren't too bad for youngsters IMO, but even an extra £5 could be enough to put off someone who normally goes alone or with friends from taking them. It's a real shame, as who was it last week who said they took their grandson to their first match, and even though it was a crap game he loved it? That just shows how quickly kids can fall in love with the Beautiful Game. Take heed, Assam.

It read like you were suggesting we should already be seeing the difference.

In an ideal world I would love to have got a season card, but circumstances have determined otherwise. I've had a pass since 2000/01 so it's not a decision i've taken lightly, but with financial constraints and also the fact i'm moving away soon to do teacher training it would have been hard to make buying the season card worthwhile when I could only attend a handful of games. I still hope to go when I can, home and away, but will still be following the Tigers over the season.

Also get a good run going , score a few more goals and the missing fans will be back... its Always been this way in Hull...we lack the die hards that stick with the club .. I never went yesterday as I'm in holiday. Hopefully I won't miss another home game this season .

Yes ST, I used to go on the coach for years but with having my son with me at the kc from the age of 2, its always been better to use the car and his car seat, also I get back to filey an hour earlier which means he was always in bed at a reasonable time, now he,s 7 its different but I still like to get back to filey asap,

I think removing the family area and the massive price hike is the reason why big parts of the West stand were so empty - me and my family have all moved into the South from the West because of this. Passes for my sons were going to be £69 (£20 last season) and £185 (£70 last season), I think you will agree that is a ridiculous price increase!!, however, prices in the South are a hell of a lot cheaper.

W2 was practically empty whereas last season it was full, but you can't blame people for moving with prices like that.
