I just want this saga to end....heaven knows what Pompey fans think! You need an end before you can have a beginning....this is just stretching out the middle painful bit.

I saw the open letter to Chanrai asking for him to be a good guy and save the club by letting the PST have Fratton Park on the cheap.
I can just imagine his reply:

No...that wasn't what the story was. It was about the Trust asking Chainrai to open negotiations about the purchase of Fratton Park and to be realistic in his valuation of it. Nobody has asked him to have anything to do with the club again beyond that.
Not "on the cheap" - at realistic value. Chainrai wanted his £17-18million pounds back but he only has the stadium as leverage and the stadium's not worth that, it's not even worth half of it. The Trust is prepared to offer £2-3million for it and had independent surveyors in to assess the worth of the stadium themselves. The results of the findings of the surveyors will either be used in negotiations with Chainrai over the purchase of the stadium or they will be used in court to force Chainrai to accept the amount offered for Fratton Park.

Yeah, I miss it too. There's an extended Youtube video of something like an hour and 20 minutes showing some of Southern TV's output over the years. It reminded me that as a kid, I used to watch the Southern TV news magazine at 6pm, Day by Day, in preference to the BBC's much more formal and stodgier South Today. Somewhere in the past, I changed channels. I think it was probably when Southern TV lost its franchise. Of course, Southern TV also had Southern Soccer, broadcast the following Sunday afternoon, when there was no football. After Southern TV disappeared we received the very London orientated, The Big Match. If Saints weren't playing a London team there was fat chance of them being the main match. And there was no chance of Pompey being seen, unlike with Southern Soccer, where Pompey were seen every other week, because the cameras went to Fratton Park when Saints played away, and vice-versa.
And yes, I did check out the programme link. I also miss Jon Miller and Jack Hargreaves. Especially Jack's Out of Town programme.

It's painful to watch. But you do get John Benson announcing and best of all, Peter Fenn on the Hammond organ, with max vibrato.

Interesting piece in Mail on-line about daily struggle of Appleton. Said he was sold the job as a 5-yr plan to get into the PL which ended after only 10 days (similar to us...our 5-yr plan was cut short too).
