The same Barmby that thought as a team we didn't have a problem in front of goal? I disagree about McLean, he's the type of player every team needs, the fact most people can't see that, I do find baffling. But anyway, thankfully fans on here don't manage or pick the team - we'd be in a right ****ing mess if they did.
You always say that but he's absolutely no more wasteful in front of goal than our star striker Fryatt, and he escapes criticism completely. McLean will at least wtat it goalwards even if it goes miles over. Fryatt will just refuse to shoot at all.
Oh god will you let it go. How many did Fryatt score and how many did Mclean last season and the half season before?? It is that simple. All strikers miss lots of chances, the better ones score more.
Why? You're having a go at McLean and I'm saying he's no worse than Fryatt. He scored more because he played up front pretty much every game. McLean was on the wing or on the bench. Neither of them are clinical finishers, I'm not making out that McLean is, just pointing out that McLean shouldn't be such a target when our hero Fryatt does the same or even worse. He did it yet again against Rotherham and a few people pointed it out on the match thread. I said everyone would forget it in a few days and the next time he does it will be a one-off just like the last time was, and the time before that... he can do what he likes and people won't say a word about him.
Well, who will this seasons scapegoat be? Almost can't wait, not happy unless we're heckling one of our own players. Futile.
Why? Because your an intelligent poster but you look like a tit going on all the time about this. No one thinks Fryatt's perfect, no one really has a go at Mclean its just plain logic and facts.
I know I'm in a tiny minority but I have no idea why and that's why I say it. He does it almost every game he plays, even Ferriby and Winterton. For every post I make about Fryatt there are 3 threads where I refrain from bringing it up because I know people don't like it. He won't be playing tomorrow so we should have something else to talk about but if he walks back into the team for the next game and misses 3 one on ones I'll point it out again And the chances are it'll be someone like Simpson who plays a blinder tomorrow and then gets dropped for Fryatt
I agreed with you on Fryatt quite a lot as his goals to shots ratio isn't great. Yet you can't compare him to Mclean. The man doesn't even get himself in those positions, he doesn't make the runs, he isn't in the right position when balls are played into the box. His ratio of one goal per eight games is pretty poor and thats before he was even played on the wing. Its got even worse since then. I am a simple man i don't see the teams who win the division have a striker have 1 in 8 so why should we accept it?
Which he will cos SB needs someone to score and he is the most likely. SB's job is on the line thats why he will play Fryatt at every opportunity. When Pearson signed Mclean and Fryatt if neither had scored a goal that half season there would have been a good chance Pearson would have got the sack. As it is Fryatt scored about 8-9. So the next season he changed his formation and stuck with his goal scorer as his preferred CF.
A lot of people, myself included, have said that Fryatt is an infuriating player. He needs 10 chances to score once. Last season we got away with it as we had about a dozen chances a game, but it's patently obvious that if Bruce makes any major changes to the system then Fryatt will be the one who suffers most. However, to say that McLean is as good as Fryatt is ridiculous. The bloke is ****e. An amazing League Two player; a very good League One player; a poor Championship player. If you ask me we still need two more strikers and a winger, and to sell McLean ASAP. And If Leicester did offer us £1m for Stewart last January, we should have snapped their hand off.
I agree with you on that really, Fryatt makes a lot of good runs to get onto the one on ones and that's what makes it more frustrating when he misses I guess. I think you've hit the nail on the head with your explanation to why McLean doesn't score goals, it's his positioning more than anything. He's always in a hurry to get somewhere but never actually there, a bit like McShane defending.
To have been a has been you must have been something, in Harpers case he must have been probably a Canine friend, a pointer
I see no reason why not. He hasn't been our player since last season so they can do what they like with him.
ffs u socalled supportefrs ----both harper and lately marney kept us where we are so why knock them===****e supporters i suppose
