Lukaku slams Chelsea treatment Romelu Lukaku has taken a parting shot at Chelsea following his loan move to West Brom, claiming that a difficult debut season for the Blues made him fall out of love with football. Romelu Lukaku says he wasted his time at Chelsea last season Lukaku, 19, arrived at Stamford Bridge to a fanfare last August after emerging as a teenage prodigy at Anderlecht. However, the Belgium international failed to justify his £18 million price tag in a frustrating 2011-12 campaign, with first-team opportunities proving limited under first Andre Villas-Boas and then Roberto Di Matteo. Lukaku made just 12 appearances - four of them starts - in all competitions and despite Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou departing over the summer, he felt he would be better served looking elsewhere for regular football. The 6' 3" striker completed a loan move to West Brom last week but has now taken a swipe at his parent club for their treatment of him. "I couldn't see myself staying at Chelsea. I sacrificed a year of my career with them and didn't want to put up with it any more,' Lukaku told the Daily Star. "I decided in March I wanted to go out on loan, and told my agent to find me a club. I am relieved to have found a solution. On the first day of pre-season I told the manager I wanted to leave. "Roberto Di Matteo told me I ought to think about Chelsea as there weren't going to be many other strikers this season, but this is the time for me to think about myself. "I got sick of watching the others from the bench. I just played 12 games and when I was playing well, they would take me off. I lost my hunger for the game over the past year. I won't beat about the bush my season at Chelsea went very badly. "As regards getting minutes on the pitch, I wasted my time. Last season I was in the reserves alongside a young lad who'd barely turned 15 and I asked myself what I was doing there Who does he think he is,hope he stays there for good, i just cant see any potential in him what so ever !!!!!!
To be fair to the lad, he went from pretty much number 1 guy at Anderlect to playing in our reserve team barely getting a look for the first team. However he didn't show too much when he did get his chances. Didn't help that Torres kept going through droughts meaning we had to play him in cup games against low opposition to buid his confidence when it could have been Lukaku. A season on loan in the P.L will be perfect for him as long as he gets games.
He's young and a Chelsea fan and I think he wanted to come in and fire us to glory. Every kids dream. I hope he gets game time to show what he's got. Not at all convinced he has what it takes but game time will help everyone, him included, know.
Yes,we've all seen the masses of young talent come through at your club like......errrr......and errrrrr oh yes and thingy
Yawn Liverpool - first teams to produce plastic flags at a European game. Clearly you yourself are the plastic one.
Nothing wrong with plastic flag's, they remain intact during the inclement weather and do not fall apart during period's of rain. Unlike the stolen paper flags your lot wave at Anfeeld. Seems like a good idea to me, but then you would have to try and find a way to ridicule us because of the ridiculous state of your own club. Never mind Pikey, if you can tarmac enough drives, you may be able to buy your next ticket to the game and not rob some poor chap on his way there.
The dippers seemed to like their plastic losers flags after the cup final. Taking them home in bundles on the coaches home. On eBay now I bet
Parting shot before loan? Ermmm I don't think so. he said all of it after the Champions League final. Old news re-hashed.
He must be getting sold then next year, surely, otherwise he'd have stayed this year? If Torres and Sturridge get injured, which isn't so far fetched, you can play Marin up top, but surely Lukaku would have been given a shot before him considering Marin's supposed to be a winger? Oh well, looking forward to seeing him play gents regardless, and to seeing Hazard et al in action. Thanks for bringing them to the premier league! (Unless you beat us next week, then piss off with your spending, and damn and blast!)...
Let's see what the big ****er does at WBA and judge his comments accordingly... I would say this is bluster...strong ties at the club with RDM and Steve Clarke so more likely a mates deal and a way of exercising a player who warrants prem exp.
Young kids and dumb statements go together like salt and pepper. Hope he gets game time and does really well. Come back better, more mature and be a part of the future.
He does realise that he has to go back after the loan, right? I know he's only young, but his advisers should've told him to shut his mouth.
