LOTS of very interesting posts and points made here.

I agree that hodgson is totally out of touch.

now lets be frank i don't think the olympic crowds in football can be excluded. they were very snide to players of rival clubs not even mentioning suarez and it was the only sport that came off badly.

BUT the crowd in the olympic stadium or in wherever are largely neutral or hometowners looking for idle entertainment. If i took say norwich V QPR and put it in the olympic stadium then sold tickets round the world (if anyone was interested) i don't think its be a football match athmosphere... its bloody obvious hodgson.

Football = two teams and two crowds being adversarial and thats just it.

Agreed, good to see a thread keep the old folk happy. <ok>

Right! Go to bed. It's way past your bedtime and your prolonging it!!! If you don't go right now then I'm not giving you any money to go to the match. Understand? (need a smilie for a stern looking dad who's going to have a giggle as soon as you start climbing the stairs)

I think he may just have meant that spectators at the Olympics were enthusiastic and it was more pleasant to him than the mindless baying and talentless chanting of abuse of the people at the Charity Shield. When will he get real?
