The one thing I like about this forum compared to most others is how few WUMs you seem to get. That's why I very rarely join forums myself, normally just read stuff. But anyway, I've never understood why people actually bother reacting. Surely ignoring them would make them go away. Just never got my head around why people rise to it... I suppose not much point in this thread but anyway, just my thoughts for what they are worth.
Sorry to let you down fellas. I like this place actually, came on earlier, saw the Leeds wum and it surprised me how many folk rose to it.
It shows that people were getting into the holiday mentality, and that not a lot of work was getting done!!
It can be quite entertaining debating with the wum's, unfortunately yesterdays fell well short, I still suspect he might be a ten year old on school holidays.
Yesterday was an interesting debate OLM, he had some good answers so perhaps was in his last year at school and had that 'teenage attitude' What lost it for him was the fact he proved he has actually never been to Leeds before...anyone who can call another city a big council estate has clearly never seen Leeds for themselves. Come Saturday, Leeds could easily be out of the top 6 and if that happens, their season will fall apart (if it has not already) but to be fair, they have had a much better season than many would have expected...likewise, so have we and the fact that we drew both games shows they are actually no better than us at this current time. It is a real shame that we are likely to take there place in the top 6 and that we cannot play them in the play offs because on our current form we would certainly beat them and I would rather break the hearts of TWS than say Cardiff or Norwich. UTT
Don't you feel sorry for the "Latch-key" kids nowadays?? After Mummy has gone out to pick up John's and do a few "tricks", they go up to Mum's room, put on her knicker's, then go down to the Library, and Troll on the net till Mam brings them home some chips and half a can of Special Brew!!!
debate? perhaps i'm not giving the wum's enough credit in that case? or perhaps i'm just too easily agitated...
I can't comprehend why anyone would want to do that sort of thing. Edit: just found this gem on the WUM thread... "I don't need to check wiki to know that Fryatt has scored more Championship goals since he joined us in January, than Paynter has scored in his entire career. He's a League One player and I don't know why you're bigging him up, every Leeds fan I know thinks he's utter ****e. " Paynter was League One top scorer last season with 30+ goals, more than Beckford, Holt, Cox and Morison who don't seem to have done too badly for themselves. Most Leeds fans I know rate him, it's just widely accepted that he didn't get a full pre-season in and has found it hard to lose his rustiness over the course of the season. I feel if we sold Becchio, he could play adequately as our lone striker.
He couldn't, we had him in the Championship and he wasn't good enough. Look back over the last 10 years at the players that have scored 20+ goals in L1 and then look at how few have gone on to play in the CCC or Prem to a decent standard beyond their first half season of novelty value.
I don't get your point there. The poster was talking about Championship goals. Since January, Fryatt has scored nine in a Hull shirt alone, that's 18 games. Paynter in 2005-6 (Hull City), 2006-7 (Southend) and 2010-11 (Leeds) has scored a total of four championship goals - in 47 games. Did he have a crap pre-season in all of them?!? You call the comment a "gem". Seems to me it's a fair point.
I stand completely by my point, Billy Paynter was rubbish for us in the Championship, he was rubbish for Southend and now I'm pleased to say, he's being equally rubbish for Leeds. I'm glad your happy with him, I wouldn't want him in our squad if he was paying us, he's cack and I fully expect you'll try and get rid in the summer.
I thought it was a gem because the OP didn't take into account the fact that A) Paynter is a proven goalscorer and B) he's had a rough time with his pre-season. Mark my words, if he's played consistently throughout next season, he'll get 15 goals plus. He's got the technique and the work rate (I don't really care what you remember from his days at Hull years ago, he's changed since then) and he has the goals in him. Same with Ross McCormack. Anyway, I don't want to take this thread off kilter if people are having a good rant about wind up merchants.
i met billy paynter on a night out once, i couldnt get away from him in the end, he wouldnt shut up..i kept saying right ive gotta go, and he kept on waffling...nice bloke... didnt buy me a drink tho- tight bastard!
