Sunderland AFC News And Banter Page

Louis Saha has travelled to Wearside to finalise a £40,000-a-week contract with Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill - and end a chase started two months ago and first revealed by Mirror Sport. Saha is a free agent after leaving Tottenham and will sign for the Black Cats after waiting for other offers and realising their terms were the best. The much-travelled striker has been plagued with injuries but is wanted by O'Neill for his ability in front of goal. The Black Cats boss beat off competition from a host of clubs to land the 33-year-old.

**** me you guys have some money swilling about! 40k <yikes> He's never fit except for us. It should be a ruling that it has to be pay as play for the likes of him and Owen. I think O'Neill has simply signed him to counteract the Ameobi slaying factor.

Here we go, we have another "keep it in the family" poster. You're looking for Syds new forum or one of the many other Sunderland only forums. This is a multi team forum inviting comments from all. Now stop trying to derail another thread into petty arguments.

PS Anita looks likely to sign tomorrow by all accounts provided he is happy with the position suggested.

Aye true enough. Just a bit of an eye opener, I was thinking Ellis is handing it out like confetti after all the Fletcher goings on.

Not that I see any reason why I have to only be positive if I want to post on this board, but I think suggesting you have loads of money could be seen as a positive. Indeed suggesting you are signing a player who does extremely well against us would be a positive to a lot of my mates who are mackems.

No direct dig, just a slice of honesty. I think paying a 34 yr old, for all he has ability, 40k when he is very very injury prone represents a club who can afford to chuck a bit of money about. I know for a fact our owner would run a mile. You're overly sensitive to a mag posting.

I honestly don't think WP came on here to WUM. The bit that caught my eye was when he mentioned about the likes of Saha and Owen should be made to go on pay as you play contracts and I fully agree with that statement.

The bickering on here needs to stop, there's some very good posters on both sides and I think people need to relax and stop being so sensitive or it's going to drive good, decent posters away and that will be a shame.

No way it will be £40k, he was on around £25k at Everton. Is now 34 and a free agent, with Ellis having learnt hard lessons by over paying players in the Keano days I would take the figure of £40k with a massive pinch of salt especially given the source who are well known ****ehawks

remember though we have not paid a transfer.

    £40,000 over 52 weeks is £2,080,000

Is he worth 2 million, probably yes, even though its only for 1 season but better ^^ than pay £2million and £25,000 wages = £3.3million

and his contract will probably run out the day after the last game, so it wont even be over 52 weeks, maybe 40 weeks. £1.6million if thats the case.

Would I pay hi£40,000 a week, NO but then I cant afford to pay him £4.00 a week, If i was a billionair and Owned sunderland, and we were doing very well, then why not. (make sure he is insured though)

    Good ****ing god why?
While we are at it lets get Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves and Ledley King just to fill up the whole of the physios room. As for his ability in front of goal that is when he is fit and he is never fit, 40k for a 33 year old crock!!!
Sorry lads this smacks of a panic buy if true and, to be fair I can't see an experienced PL manager like MON buying this piece of crap let alone pay him 40k a week (that's over 2mil a year).
