DS, of course it was the fault of all those fans that the club broke all those laws and owed all that money.

BT is right, time to show some grace.

It is a Forum as you suggest.......Your entitled to your opinion the same as me.......I, like the majority just feel it is time to put an end to the back biting regarding Pompey...that is all!!

In the spirit of open discussion I'd question why you'd think that those on a Saints forum would be in a majority in this view and - I don't think it's back-biting - I'd consider it redressing the balance of views whether in a majority or not?

I don't do other clubs' forums but I'm told POL etc are even banning their own who don't toe the party line - there are many rabid anti-scummer posts as there were when we had our issues...ok we got lucky but I can't help feeling that if Carlsberg did schadenfreude...

There are of course people who agree with you.............However the majority of posts on this board, over the last couple of months, have suggested enough is enough with the Pompey bashing. All the arguments in the world are not going to change things but the majority are clear that they see the whole saga as boring and Pompey bashing adds to that boredom. If you don't agree fine......that is your right. There is nothing wrong in some good hearted banter. I agree that when we were down and almost out we took a lot of stick. However you do not see those posters on our board today or any where, do you? All I'm suggesting is that we start to build a new bridge of tolerance and as someone else suggested a little grace towards the Pompey fans plight. It is after all not of their making........

The trust have to find another 6m, don't think they will get that tbh.

Can we not take over and rename them Southampton B? They'd love it and it would be great for our youngsters to get first team football in a competitive environment

It doesn't look healthy at the moment and the fans must be dreading it every time they see more news is imminent. Like many I was fuming when we got the abuse from certain quarters as we headed downwards. That feeling soon went and we have been most fortunate to see Nicola bring Markus to our club.

For me and the majority on here I see the demise of a once great club as something extremely sad and disconcerting. Those who have a form of hatred to all things Blue should go to such sites as http://www.playuppompey.net/portal where you can post away to your hearts content and will receive similar posts in return.

Such persistent vitriol is not needed or welcomed on here.

This whole Pompey and liquidation saga reminds me of when i was a young lad and spent my Saturday mornings at the ABC Minors* watching a 3 hour programme of short films in black an white of cowboys and other heroes supposedley falling over a cliff to their deaths only to discover the next week that they had managed to escape certain death by some little trick or other and had lived to fight another day.

*When I was a boy most people only had a wireless, there were only a few wealthy homes with a TV, and so on a Saturday morning the local ABC cinema put on a show of short serial films from 9.00 until 12.00 especially for children hence Minors. The cinema would be packed with hundreds of children all having paid there 6d (just over 2p) to get in with 3d for a lolly.

Godders - used to be 6d upstairs and 3d downstairs at the cinema in Eastleigh. I used to get my copy of Victory every Saturday morning on the way. And those B&W westerns - the baddies always wore black hats (at least l asume they were black) and the good-guys wore white hats. Sometimes you would get a colour movie and the whole audience of kids would sigh in wonder. Happy days!

and I thought I was old!

All that for 5p. I wonder how much it would cost nowadays!

Just imagine in 50 years, we'll all be saying

'when I was a lad, you could go to the football on the train, get fish and chips on the way, buy a match programme AND have a pie at half time and still have change from £100...'

I may be showing my ignorance here as I've never shown more than a fleeting interest about Pompey's current saga. But why did appleton come out and criticise the transfer budget Chanrai had given him? Surely they have no money anyway and that if someone is saving the club (and his job) he should be very nice to them not go crying to the press?

Because Appleton is an idiot who doesn't understand that Portsmouth are bust? I think he talked about signing players on the day they went into administration...

Don't call Appleton an idiot, it's not his fault he's been misled multiple times.

He's not criticising the transfer budget but rather the fact that after being told one budget months ago which he had been working to, he was suddenly told days before the start of the season that it was actually going to be 60% less than what he was previously told. He actually said he could have worked with the smaller budget had he been informed of the smaller budget earlier. And Chainrai was never going to save the club, at best he would have postponed liquidation until he'd sucked us dry.
