ofcourse its ok you disagree but that doesn't mean I understand how. Whether you are willing to support him or not how can you not think he is a terrible human being
Because, to tell you the truth, he's done a lot less than a lot of people I know who are LUFC fans, so it would be truly hypocritical of me to judge him. What has he really done in the last 5 years that is so despicable?
The mackie incident.... Spitting at fans.... The issue at the leeds, donny game last season. The nightclub incident involving anton ferdinand I haven't researched anything to do with his incidents, only because I have seen enough to know what a cock he is. I can't back this idiot, if he scores. I will cheer for leeds united getting a goal, I will not change my mind about him from his on-pitch performances though. I'd prefer Joey Barton to him, at least he doesn't display the same sort of dirty nature that diouf does
He doesn't show any sort of regret for anything he does either, he is always right. If there was one footballer I wouldn't ever want to meet, it'd definitely be him
Josh - a) I have already explained my view on the Mackie incident that he made a mistake in the light that every footballer shouts at other footballers for feigning injury or diving or cheating. He just got it wrong. Mistakes happen. It aint a capital punishment, plentyy of footballers get things wrong. b) Spitting - nothing since 2004. How far back do you wanna go? I say that issue is spent. c) The issue at Leeds- was he or McCormack to blame? No-one knows, but it';s just passion. We are all happy Ross stood up for himself, wouldn't you expect the same if you supported Donny? d) The nightclub incident where he was exonerated and no charges brought? Just because someone is there does not mean they are guilty. Too many people are judging this guy on things that happened many years ago, on mistakes, and on media reporting that does not report that he was exonerated. I don't know anything baout this guy either other than I am prepared ot give him the benefit of the doubt until he truly screws up. All this stuff? piffle. Many Leeds fans I know have done much much worse
Josh...Joey Barton? Really? For me Diouf over Barton any day. Barton and his lowlife family have enjoyed all the luxuries and benefits this country can provide since the day he was born, and yet he turned into one of the most vile characters imaginable. At least Diouf has the excuse of a deprived childhood, cultural differences etc.
No elmo, a man cannot be so close to danger on so many occasions without being considered dangerous Just because he gets away with a slap on the wrist doesn't mean he wasn't wrong. And if the mackie incident was a mistake, where was his public apology? He didn't apologise, he denied he did it. What a scumbag Spitting is dirty, I don't care whether he hasn't been in trouble for it since 2004. Its still a ****ing dirty thing and he can get ****ed. Just because it happened more than 5 years ago means nothing. If he murdered someone 6 years ago does it just not count? The issue at leeds, regardless of whether he was at fault or not, he still got into a "brawl" in the tunnel with some leeds players that are currently at the club and could cause unrest I don't care how much you wanna defend this idiot, he has made mistakes in the past and far too many for my liking and should have to pay the consequences regardless of when they happened. They stick with you throughout your life
I don't care about people's upbringing. Its about what type of person you are. I didn't say I'd want Barton in a leeds shirt but I'd prefer him to Diouf
I didn't call you thick. But given your response I could if it would make you feel better. Explain why I have missed the point and why you feel it necessary to call someone ****** with its anti disabled bullying connotations? I would not ever equate spitting with murder and people do change and should always have the right to prove they have changed. As stated earlier many fans I know have done worse
Elmo, as an outsider looking in, I'm interested to know your opinions on the footballing side of Diouf. I think you've made it clear that you'll give anyone as many chances as they want. You're not a judge are you, or maybe you work for the CPS?
He's on trial but I expect Warnock to sign him up soon. He may be a Sewer Rat but he's our Sewer Rat and if he helps us challenge for promotion then I'm 100% behind him until he does something to jeopardise that. Clean slate from me but can see that fans are very mixed on this. If he steps out of line Austin, Kisnorbo and Brown will sort him out!!
BTW I don't agree with the title Warnock out either. His hands are tied, he needs a right winger and a striker and can only afford one, once he's offloaded a couple. Diouf can play both positions and gives us options and doesn't come with a transfer fee which may mean we can bring someone else in. Apparently he was on 2k per week at Doncaster.....so wages shouldn't be a problem even for us!! Had Bates not moved the goal posts with the takeover then Warnock would have been looking at the targets in the Premiership that he mentioned but that's something for another thread I think.
Totally agree with above, until this T/O happens or money is injected into this club we have no money to spend. I'm not a fan of diouf but as a player on a free I don't think you could get better. If anyone has some suggestions on any players it would be good to hear them.
I don't know much about him other than he was good enough to ply his trade at the top levels and Pele (I think) placed him in his top 125 ever list Neither judge nor jury carra. I am open rather than closed and will make my mind up based on how he is at Leeds. If he screws up I will make my decision then but too many are trying to guarantee he screws up before he has had to chance to prove himself At times it is like a Nazi rally in here - no independent thoughts allowed fro certain quarters
Thats not the point I am making though. I am saying how many chances does a man deserve and why are you only taking into account what has happened in the last 5 years. He has still had incidents in the last 5 years or enough to prove to me he hasn't changed so I don't really understand why you are disregarding the ones before that As professional footballers, you are in the public eye, you can't afford to make mistakes because your career is constantly on the line and you get paid enough money for that to be the case. You really only have one chance, if you are a good player (regardless of whether its right) you may get another chance or maybe another. But this guy has had so many its unreal. Its not only this that irritates me (to put it lightly) its the fact that Colin is the biggest ****ing hypocrite the world has ever seen making this dramatic U-turn in around a year's worth of time. Diouf has absolutely no regret either about anything that he has done, he has never publicly admitted that he has ****ed up in his life and his attempts to make it right, instead its someone else's fault
Hate this excuse. He's not our sewer rat, he's a sewer rat who happens to wear our shirt, something he doesn't deserve to do and something I hope I don't ever have to see again. His hands were tied so Diouf was the only player in the world he was able to sign? Really? Either way he'd have been better off signing no-one, as he's risked splitting the fans into two camps, alienating half the dressing room and turning a significant portion of the fans on him. He can talk about how it's not really a risk because he's only on trial, but IMO the mistake's already been made, he's already proved himself to be a hypocrite. Liam Lawrence He placed him on his top 125 list of best player at the time 10 years ago, when he actually was good. You can bang on about how you're open minded all you like but the man has proved that he hasn't changed, and I really don't see how your "different culture" argument holds up since he is now 31 and has lived in Western Europe since he was a teenager. He's never changed and at this point in his career it's very doubtful he's ever going to, so why should we jeopardise our season for the sake of signing him? Also I'm perfectly fine with differing views, it's when you don't read my comments then turn it personal and turn that accusation back on me that I get annoyed. And it's an interesting point Josh has made, how many chances does a man deserve?
