Ha ha. I gave an honest opinion, the last line was added for dramatic content.

Swans must be so gutted at Allen going. I haven't seen where any of them have wished him luck and thanked him for what he did for the club. When alonso left us I think almost everyone was universal in their praise and pleased that he had graced our turf and sorry that he left. There was certainly no animosity.
With Allen all of a sudden ,as with Rodgers ,he is ****,overrated and did nothing for them.
You swans fans should understand that Liverpool are a universa club with huge support and a fantastic history. Who wouldn't want to be part of the project to get us back to the top. Apart from the fact that he obviously wants to work with BR. If he hadn't gone now then it old have happened January or next summer.
Have the good grace to wish the lad well.

You couldn't be more wrong. Everyone I have spoken to, all the comments I see are all wishing Allen well. He was a great servant for out club, a real fan favourite and will be sorely missed. That doesn't mean however that we are not confident we can find an adequate replacement. Just because you guys signed him doesn't mean he is irreplaceable for a team as small as ours <ok>

Must be just the bitter ones who come on here slagging him off then. Hope you can find a replacement but there are not too many who play like him that you can get for £15 mill

Unfortunately I think if you went to Spain you could pick up 3 players that play like him for a combined total of £15mil. He's unique in Britain, but not in the World.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he is a good signing and think he's an improvement on what we already have but let's not get carried away. It's not like we've signed Messi for £15mil.

I think we can get a player at their peak that is equivalent to joe now for fairly cheap.. But when joe hits his full potential you will easily have a player on your hands worth over 30m. He is a very good player now but will be world class in a few years time. When you start watching him play week in week out you will see it.

That's a bit of a silly comparison..I know he is not messi class (yet !!!!) but for the price we have paid and going on whenever I have seen him play, I think he is going to be excellent for us and the price will seem a snip in a couple of years time. Rodgers has said himself he would have paid more.
And if you can find three players of the same quality for the same money then you are in the wrong job. Give BR a ring and see if they have any scouting vacancies.you could save us a fortune.

Ok maybe a bit overboard on the comparison and like I said I think he's a good player, but the original point was Swansea may have trouble replacing him with someone similar for £15mil which I don't agree with.

He'd fit in with the Spanish way of football at the moment, which makes him unique here, but stick him in a Spanish team and he'd fit in because all CM in Spain play that way.

Yes I agree that the Spanish midfielders,in general, play that way..but 3. For £15 mill...might need a buy 2 get one free offer on that mate or buy one get two free::biggrin:

Malaga sold Cazorla for £15mil. Vilareal got relegated, sure you could pick up a few of their players cheaply as well. There are bargains out there, you just need to know where to look to get them.

I take it then that the Liverpool scouting team don't have this information?

Read my post earlier in the thread Wigger - you will see that I said there was no way Allen could turn the move down and I wish him all the luck in the world. He has been a class act for us and feel he will become a legend for you. As for Brenda - same as above!

Some fans will always be bitter when players and managers move on to pastures new; but it is their career and their life and it annoys me when people criticise people who want to prove themselves at the highest level - show me one person who claims they would turn down a similar career move and I will show you a liar! So Brendan wants to bring in players he knows and has worked with - he did exactly the same when he came to us, but all of a sudden in somes eyes he is doing something terribly wrong.

Laudrup is now our manager and has done exactly the same and I don't hear a single Jack criticising him for signing players from other clubs; forgive me if I am wrong, but I thought that was what a manager was employed to do - bring in players that he feels will fit into his plans and benefit his club!

Posters on sites such as this are not representitive of every fan of the club in question. I for one, and many friends and fans that I have talked to, wish nothing but success for Brendan and Joe.

Good post <applause> What I will say is that often on here of late the easy mistake to make is that the majority of Swans fans are a tad pissed at us <whistle> this obviously doesn't reflect the sentiments of everyone and its appreciated that some of you guys (Swans M being another) are capable of having a reasonable discussion about it.

I've said on a few occassions I wish you guys well and I honestly think with Laudrup in charge (a clever man with a whole **** load of good contacts) and now good cash in your back pockets this could be exactly what you needed to secure your future in the top division. I know losing top players can be a nightmare (selling Beardsley to the bitter bastards across the park was one of the worst days of my yoof) and even harder when you've watched them grow into a quality first teamer..we sold a whole load of our best '90s youth players in the end...Macca, God, Owen etc (in fact we practically gave Macca and Owen away).

I do think many players though, engender a certain bitterness in the manner of a departure. Now our most recent example I guess is Torres...it hurt that he upped and ****ed off to Chelski not just because he did it...but it was the manner that made it so much worse. Leaving for a direct rival is one thing, leaving a few weeks after saying you wanted to stay...leaving right at the back end of the window...having the cheek to say some pretty stupid things after us as fans had adored him and the club had nurtured him through some tough injuries...that is when a certain bitterness inevitably creeps in. I get the feeling that Joe Allen will be thought of in Swansea the way a lot of us view Alonso for example (left for I have to say better things but with a certain dignity). I hope JA will still be well thought of by yourselves <ok> I don't doubt that he's loved and hopefully appreciates everything about his time at Swansea.

The thing is, I haven't seen one post wishing him ill or slagging him off....not one.
People are not bitter they are angry at Rodgers and Liverpool for the obvious.

You are trying to have reasoned debate with someone who's romantic life revolves around his ****ing sock and thinks of himself as a "Wigger"

The swans fans who have wished both Brendan and Joe well are more likely to not post here as they would have nothing really worth saying. It's the ones who haven't taken it so well that are more likely to speak up over here so it's understandable how you think think it's most of us saying these things. Although I'm still yet to speak to a swans fan that hasn't wished Joe well.

Why angry at Liverpool? We've paid a fair price for your manager (who many Swans keep telling us isn't that good) and activated a release clause in Joe Allens contract...a contract he agreed with your club. Are we back to this mysterious "agreement" discussion yet again? Surely not
