Definitely agree, not far behind me to be honest in terms of high quality posting and valued member of the board.

...Bluff has some way to go, he goes way too 'off topic' at times. Something I never do.

<grr>

It's true, I can go off topic and ramble. <laugh>

There's a thread for this.

Hmm I'm in two minds mate. If the talent is there, then it should be embedded in with the stars of the first team. My concern is that the first team is still relatively new and we're going through a tough period. During these times, I think it's best that we stick to experience rather than youth.

Also, I personally believe the best time to use the youth is when you don't neccessarily need them. For example - Insua was rotated with Aurelio a few seasons back and he didn't put a foot wrong. But then Aurelio was injured and Insua was pushed in at the deep end and really struggled. This was at a time when the whole team was down and not playing with confidence. It was the wrong envinronment for the young lad. David Ngog is another example.

Oh yeh agreed...i dont mean we should start sticking them in immediately...We need consistancy!!! what I mean is they should get the nod ahead of the likes of cole and adam when the first team are lacking........They are the future and need to be brought in slowly......If for instance Suarez or downing is injured I see no point for th future in giving cole game time.......But giving a bit of experience to the youngsters will benefit us in the long run......

For me the only disapointment last night was the bench.....Didnt see it offerring much if we had been in a tough game....A few of the younger players offer something a bit different.....But integration has to be slow.

To the person saying Gaston Ramirez is the answer to our midfield issues a page or so back - he's predominantly a right sided forward or players the number 10 position. He's replace Downing in all probability.

I told you before Ziiiiiiiinngy - you're highly ******ed not highly regarded.

Easy mistake to make though <ok>

Although I can in some way see what you mean. I don't think someone like Gaston Ramirez would be a replacement for Downing, but more of an alternative. Variation is one of the keys to success.

Good performance against a team that started competitive footie well in advance.
I reckon the best thing is that it was convincing over the 90. Also Brendan's influence on the team was clearly apparent. The belief players retain the ball is there and so so many times where last season we'd have passed back hoofed or popped it out for a throw, instead we kept the ball and once or twice turned the tight situation into a great attack.

I think we should start a thread and add the nutmegs and who was done by Suarez this season to see a total and who he does most, probably John Terry <laugh>

Although Suarez was tormenting the defenders, it was Jonjo Shelvey that was starting most of this when collecting from the back. He's been superb recently.

Indeed, I rate Jonjo but he was never gonna have the same impact in a misfiring team as per last year, this is what he does when he has someone to pass to.

Hpw many nutmegs is Suarez at now this season and the prem hasn't even started yet.

Worthy of a topic of its own, shame it cant be multi board as it would strike up a large debate. <ok>

You should start one. Here's a question, even though at times Manchester United looked like they were using a 4-4-2, was it more of a 4-4-1-1 or was it a continental 4-2-3-1 formation?
I'll show you what I mean.
Wellbeck
Valencia Rooney Young
Carrick Scholes.

4-4-1-1 much of the time.

At times it was a 424 aswell with Nani and Valencia right up the pitch, this was only for a brief period at any one time and never the primary formation, we would of been killed if we tried it lol.

Next season will be 433/4231 though with 2 deeper CM and Kagawa or Rooney ahead of them.

In order to play two deep lying midfielders you're going to need one who is able to press. Have you got one of those? You've got Darren Fletcher but he's been ill.

Carrick can be our playmaker* and it remains to be seen who can do the other role due to the fact thy are all sick notes.

* springing the ball from midfield while protecting the defence.

I would think Cleverly will play slightly higher than Carrick if I am honest.
