Danial ayala has gone. who else is going we losing people now. i hope he has go some more coming in soon like before season starts. if not we are in trouble here comes second season syndrome. if he does good but he does need to bring in more i got told by macnally that they want 3-4 more to come in they better get a move on
Not so long a go, people were worried that we had too many, now we don't have enough? How can this possibly affect us so badly next season. Relax, there are still over three weeks of the transfer window to go!
On loan though, I dislike what Hughtons done but if he thinks it's best course of action then fair enough. I dislike backup players we have in centre back and have made this obvious but who knows what will happen.
Relax, its all part of the secret master plan Naughton, Davies and Bridcutt will be signed and Guidetti on loan. Solved.
Besides look at it another way: Naughton OUT Whittaker IN Whitbread OUT (counts as one since they are injured the majority of the time) Turner IN Crofts OUT Butterfield IN Wilbraham OUT Snodgrass IN Now in my opinion we have better players in the last 3 transfers than we had before, and still time for a RB, DM and CB (if necessary, I'd prefer a LB)
But we don't have a better manager and I think the difference in class between Naughton and Whittaker is enormous. The other 3 are undoubtedly better players although I really liked Wilbraham.
What about Ayala out - nobody in Drury Out - nobody in Also how do you know Butterfield is better than Crofts- you haven't seen him play!! Furthermore, how can you compare a winger with a striker?
Not particularly worried with a few weeks to go like Wonky says. Last thing we can afford to do is panic buy. As much as I would love Naughton to sign on, I really can't see it. I think if he leaves permanently he will go to an established team who can probably afford his wage demands. I think wages are probably a bit too much for our structure.
Blimey, two seasons of Lambert getting all his transfer business done by the end of June and people start to panic because we've reverted back to the more normal way clubs go about transfer and only bought in four players and on top of that we've had the Euro's, which traditionally pushes back all transfer activity anyway.
Whose starting to panic? Just pointing out that we have let 6 go and brought 4 in - 2 of whom won't be fit by the start of the season. It is also fair comment that in the Lambert seasons he knew in advance of the transfer window what and who he wanted - Hughton has not had that luxury. I would start to panic, however, if Lambert made a late swoop for a couple of our established players as they would either go or be unsettled but on the whole I think that the next 3 weeks will be very interesting as nobody knows what Hughton really thinks of the players in the squad.
I can't imagine that CH would let Crofts and Ayala go without filling the two places freed up. I would go for a quality LB and DMF, as well as bringing in an U21 striker to complete the squad.
Looked at objectivly our current squad is already stronger than that which we started last season with in terms of personnel (the changes outlined above plus the addition of Howson in January) and in terms of premier league experience. Defensively we have lost a 35 year old LB plus two injury prone centre halves. Don't get me wrong, all decent players but if we are to progress probably better to replace than retain. The loss of Naughton is more of a blow - I hope Whittaker is a worthy replacement but I suspect that he will not be quite as good but I hope he proves me wrong. We have some places in the squad and indications are that we are looking to strengthen so maybe we get in a decent full back (or two) and DM or even another CB and suddenly we are looking really strong and everyone is happy.
Sometimes you loan people out because they're crap. Sometimes you loan people out because they have big potential. Ayala is the latter, this loan could make him I think. Still leaves us in a situation were I'd like another defender but I think we look more organised so I'm not too worried.
Is it better for him to get football every week and become a long term center back for us? I think it's worth a shot.
