Jesus ****ing Christ! Can't people actually listen to what Superman is saying? He doesn't think Ward is the best CB in the Premier League; he thinks Ward (a) doesn't deserve all the flak he is getting, and (b) is quite good enough to serve us sufficiently well this season as a "reserve" CB. That's all. Seems to me it is what the club thinks too, since they made sure Ward stayed by extending his contract.

Northampton, it's rather irrational to accuse someone of being on drugs because they have a different opinion to you! Supers could just as easily accuse you of the same!

I'm not defending Supers, he's quite capable of defending himself, but let's not delve into the depths of silly accusations, it's far better to tell him you disagree and give him the reasons why!

    <laugh> now now ladies...

With this whole debate on ward and Barnett, there has to be a sense of realism with the whole situation. They are our 3rd and 4th CB choices with ayala going out on loan, for this purpose they are nore than adequate to back up Turner and Bennett. To spend money to replace your back up players when money needs spending else where on positions do need improving would be mad. As supers says, to replace a player like ward or Barnett would cost between 1-1.5mil and at the moment with a strict budget that we have why do that. It would make no sense at all.

p.s i wouldnt rule out a move for Curtis Davies yet!

Rob. Northampton didn't say superman was saying that. I agree with north its definitely our weakest position at the moment and ward and barnett are unfortunately the weakest in our weakest position. I don't think he can do it at this level. He probably will be back up but i can see another centre back potentially coming in

As far as I know it has not been confirmed yet has it?

It may never happen. You could all be throwing hand bags around for no reason.

His a shocking centre back at this level why can't people here accept that some of us don't rate Ward? Or do we all have to always agree. It's no big deal I think his **** some of you think his good get over the fact that some people have different opinions.

And I accept that, it's when people who think they are gospel and given authority on anything involving Norwich start jumping down people's throats when they voice the slightest concern about a player.

Of course Northampton didn't say Superman thinks Ward is the best CB in the Premier League. I was using hyperbole to make the point that from the criticism he is getting you would think Superman had himself said something that bloody daft. He hasn't. <ok>

That's ridiculous because i am not saying replace back up players. Love the way you have a pop at northampton for not reading posts. Look at this example.

    I will say again.

Ayala is capable for pushing for first team place.

Ward and Barnett content with bench.

Why get rid of ayala for season? Even when he doesn't count towards 25 man squad.

I still think another centre half will come in.

So why keep ward and barnett who are weakest in that position? And let ayala who i think is better than barnett without doubt and i think arguably better than ward?

    its really very simple.

elliott ward is a good centre half.

he isn't world class, nor is he totally rubbish.

he is a capable and experienced defender who occasionally makes errors, just like all our other defenders.

he lacks a little pace but his control on the ball is good, his positioning when in the middle is excellent and he must have blocked more shots than any other player for city last year, saving countless possible goals.

one thing is for sure, he wants to be at our club and he is willing to remain patient and fight for his place. he is a good age, he can also still improve and he is a great character to have around the place. when called upon, he always gives 100% and plays for the badge and the fans.

easily good enough to be our 4th choice centre back at worst.

    easily.

and frankly, nobody can disagree with any of that because its blatantly obvious.

you're totally missing the point! ward is more than capable of gaining a place in that team. indeed, i wouldn't be surprised to see him start the season. what we are saying is that he is willing to remain patient if he doesn't get that chance.
