well put cracker man....even on the greatest night in british athletic history....football trys to bring a depression to the night... but what a night, thats what the Olympics are all about!....what a finish from farah and ennis is supreme, never seen such a popular athlete!
It really was absolutely brilliant, I was so nervous watching that race. So pleased for all of them. Football has it's time and more than enough coverage. This is their time stop trying to mess it up with a pointless football competition!
Maybe if these overpaid and over ego'd footballers showed the dedication that our athletes, cyclists and rowers etc have showed then maybe they might achieve something...... What a fantastic night!! Pity the BBC managed to miss Jess being introduced to the crowd before her race......
I hadn't seen that interview with Wiggo. Top chap. Plenty to be proud about, not just tonight. I hope that if we don't win another gold in the rest of the Olympics people don't start having a pop saying we've lost it or something. Fact is we've probably had our strongest events anyway. The example the cycling organisation has set is supreme. I wonder if the FA could learn a thing or two from that? The FA have been getting it wrong for over 100 years, the cyclists have got everything right in less than 20. Great athletes of course, but the organisation and coaches deserve credit too.
The main aspect about swimming, cycling and most of the athletics, is that when they crash or have a tragic games or screw up, they really are hard on themselves, and if that means having a major overhual, they do it. There is none of this having the wrong people dictating what needs to be done, they are in this for the love of the sport, not huge weekly salaries so its real difference in mentality. With football, even when an organsation or club has a overhual or "new project" they still get it wrong most of the time. I think we still have some medal chances but so far, its been awesome to watch so many brits perform to their best.
Stuart Pearce says the Team GBleuurgh experience will help the players. What, even those who are already full internationals?
Ramsey learned how to play for a tactically inept coach who picks players for the wrong system. And then he got called up to Team GBleurgh...
The cycling organisation is all about finding the top people and getting the very best out of them. However in this case the stop watch doesn't lie. Not sure how you can measure footballers' performance so accurately.
Mr Croydon, re your comments about Chambers, just seen the 100m bronze medal go to a *twice suspended* drugs cheat! Also my nomination for one of the great (or perhaps most bizarre) moment of the Games goes to the Kenyan 3,000m steeplechase gold medal winner who finished the race in lane 8.
Awesome!..loved his comment when asked if he had anything to say to those who doubted him. "I ain't got nothing more to say man, I said it out there"
Being Half Jamaican I have a right to support him Was a bag of nerves for him. Now hope Blake can get the 200m and I'll be happy
ohh goes without saying..the man is a machine...but im a bit old fashioned...and the games are about unknowns becoming legends....for me......the race was boring and predictable....the cyclists...Ennis..Farah....the rowers....Oscar the paraolympian..that is what it is about for me..or at least what i will remember about the games...... and obviously if your a native your bound to back him...and rightly so.
I was noticing the difference between Maria and Serena. Serena reminds me of Mr Universe and should be playing the men!! Is she on steroids, I wonder?
I've been calling them the Williams Brothers for years...and I'll spare you the list of reasons they've done nothing but damage women's tennis throughout their careers.
