There certainly seems to be, shall we say, an excess of testosterone there somewhere!..

I've most enjoyed watching the smaller and less-hyped sports, partly because I learn something about them. US wins tend to get so overhyped it leaves me at least a bit cold. On the other hand seeing, for example, US skeet shooters get near perfect scores was good fun, genuinely interesting. The rowing and equestrian have been my favorite events. As a former rower, it's been fantastic to see such big, well-oiled crowds. I loved Farah winning, partly for the crowd and the call, partly for the oddity of how close he and Rupp seem to be.

I don't get why we're supposed to be so interested in pre-pubescent looking girls in tights tumbling around. Seems like some kind of really weird perv fest. Not that there's anything wrong with perversion, but little girls do nothing for me.

While I've seen some US women athletes look way too much like they were doping, the Williams sisters are not among them. My high school had enough really big and strong black girls to convince me Serena isn't particularly unusual--except for getting the best tennis instruction from an early age. But I agree it's a problem when they're twice as strong and at least as fast as everyone else. More than ever it seems that if Serena is interested she can crush anyone.

Who on earth came up with beach volley ball as an Olympic sport?
    How about beach beer drinking?
USA would win the gold for cold beer drinking and there would be a dead heat for the gold between Great Britain and Germany for "warm beer " drinking!
Mind you, those beach girls would perform well in porn movies!!! (Just kidding!!!!?).

  10. If you had only heard the mid-game announcers at the BV...... Trying to rouse the crowd by drawing parallel to porn movies!! And then there's the Benny Hill music played when the sand rakers come out......

Astonishing for an Olympic event, but I am led to believe that the competitors accept this during the Olympics. World Champs etc are taken more seriously.

Yes, it does seem to be nothing more than a T&A show masquerading as an Olympic sport. Still, I won't complain too loudly

Have you ever drunk with Americans?
I think they'd be languishing somewhere behind the Saudis, from my experience.

  13. Only the Canadians have any chance of matching us Brits for drinking.

It was introduced for Atlanta (you know, the worst Olympics in the history of the Games, Ancient or Modern) and seems to have stayed - whilst baseball was nixed from the events, despite the guaranteed amusement of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Japan and Venezuela winning the medals instead of the USA.

Yeah, we suck as a group as beer drinkers. *Asks himself, 'Do I really need the words "as beer drinkers"?'* In addition to getting out of control drunk too easily, we commit the cardinal sin of drinking beer 'like making love in a canoe,' and the worse one of not drinking enough.

For those unfamiliar with the joke, it's been suggested that American beer is a lot like making love in a canoe - it's ****ing close to water.

Lol, I was trying to figure it out. I thought it meant that they drink beer very slowly and carefully.

It was John Cleese's line. I loved it. Actually there's all sorts of good microbrews popping up in the US, so things are looking up.

The Titanics have now become relevant - a Spurs player is guaranteed at least a Silver, and it's possible a gold will be guaranteed later this evening.
