you boys need to read things with your eyes closed as Jerel Ifil has only stated his opinion andI was hoping IMAZ can return and fight back...its a level playing field and to be fair I think that our anglo saxon standard religious beliefs would seem very hypocritical to some other religions. I don't expect Brix would ban this as its not a direct insult ... its a opinion so take it or leave it

<applause>.

WOW..If that doesnt get Jerel a 7 day ban from our board then I'll be very surprised.....!

Why would it? I haven't insulted the man personally, just explained my opinion of him and his choices which he's responsible for.

Going onto another board to exclain a poster is stupid because he has a religion....This coming from a Yorkshireman, which is an area "with a few diffrent cultures"

I don't understand your point. I'm racist because I'm a Yorkshireman and the telly tells you we all hate the dirty P***s and go on EDL marches?

See you in a week pal, and it'll be a week to soon for me...

I don't know how I'll go on in life.

The point is Imaz shouldn't need to fight or defend himself at all. This is a football forum and other than friendly banter, there shouldn't be anything that causes someone to feel like they can't come on to the board. Unfortunately some on here feel that they can say what they want and others who are fed up with it.

He and Northolt were the ones who brought up the religious stuff.

Give it a rest....

It's a thread called 'come back Imaz'; what did you expect other than this discussion about whether he should stay away or not?

It was more in relation to the continuous barrage of confrontational comments and threads being posted on the whole board Jerel, not specifically this thread or your posts. With regards to this thread, I do not see too much "discussion"...more akin to arguing and abuse.

I am just getting a bit sick of it all tbh...as are many others.

It's far too easy to mistake opinion for offence here, whether you are posting something or reading something. Offending someone's beliefs IS personal, to those who have any kind of serious faith, and it's something that really needs to be understood and acknowledged by those people who think it's OK. I don't share Imaz's Islamic faith, but I'd never insult his religion, nor would I insult him for adhering to it. Both of which have been done here on this thread, whether the posters think they have done so or not.

When phrases such as "I've not insulted the man, just given my opinion of him and his choices" (meaning his religion), then it's personal to him,and oversteps the mark.

DT, you asked for an example before about what Brix meant about being disrespectful. That just about covers it. Given what's now being accepted as the new normal around here, I doubt Imaz will be the only one to opt out, which will be to nobody's benefit.

Jammers, you're a top quality poster but to be fair mate, if you don't like a particular thread, you don't have to look at it.

I agree with Oddball. Jerel is as entitled to post his opinion as anyone else.

Read my last post mate...

I do however agree about not reading threads and I do tend to steer clear of this type, or of making comments on them...when there are so many of them they are kinda hard to avoid though!

But, seeing as I am here now...

Never said Jerel shouldnt have an opinion...do hope you are not ship steering sir ;)

Surely this thread was started to encourage Imaz to come back and for those that want him to come back to voice their say so...I do not see how it was started with the intention to form a debate on whether Imaz should come back or for people to post their views or opinions on him staying away. If you want to post those views, should they not be contained in a "stay away Imaz" thread?

There are plenty of people who express their opinion on Twitter nowadays regarding Race, Religion or gender. They have found out to their cost that sometimes your opinion is best kept to yourself. Unfortunately some on here don't keep their bigoted opinions to themselves.

I don't know how I'll go on in life.

1. Not how everyone else read it...Did Mat not take it that way as well?

2. Stupid comment, not worth a response, Except to point out the obvious that Yorshire has a lot of diffrent communities, and one would expect (wrongly obviously) that a Yorkshireman would understand the beliefs, feelings and thoughts of some of those communities

3. Well do us all a favour then....please!

Understand that ?

Every belief someone has is 'personal to them'. My anarchism is personal to me. My Leeds United fandom is personal to me. My preference for brunettes is personal to me. I don't take it as an insult when someone decries those things. Imaz would do wisely to act the same. Just because he may devote large amounts of his life to his imaginary *****phile friend, it doesn't give him a divine right to swat away all criticism/banter.

Twitter is considered a public venue where you register your name and post under it. This is a private website based in Germany where you can register under any moniker you like. As it happens, I'd express these views of mine to any reasonable person, and have done in the past. So don't compare me and Swords with the sort of people who call Stan Collymore a coon.

1. I don't care how other people interpreted my fairly obvious and easily-comprehensible post, that's their problem.
2. Now I understand what you're saying. I've come across lots of ethnic minorities of both religious and non-religious lifestyles in Yorkshire, and found that I vastly preferred the latter. Same goes for whites I know. Those who choose not to live in mind prisons are generally more liberal and likeable people. Those who choose to do so and celebrate that fact are less warmly received by me.
3. :(

Good points Willy ... I also revert back to the N606 strap line which i am comfortable about: Comment, Debate and Create ... Freely
You introduce the term respect or disrespect you also introduce a load more questions ... This whole issue of this normal as a standard again must IMO always be backed up with the simple fact that people do not have to read this or participate thus total freedom of speech is maintained ... of course there will be cases of over stepping the mark and the mods then step in and do a great job. You may be right about people leaving or you maybe wrong ...I do not know the stats ... I do think however that the threads on our board seem to have a lot of views and I only sense growth. A open forum is bound to attract the complete spectrum of viewpoints and its something i believe we have to live with at the same time I am not supporting anarchy. We have a beautiful free thing going on here and I am sure that Imaz and many others are reading and watching right now ... I encourage the world to join us as we support the very finest football team.

Please brix...Get this idiot off our board. I'm not muslim and was raised C of E and i think thats insulting

Using the EXCUSE of personal beliefs and banter to give out and label relions favouring *****philes is, in my book, overstepping the mark. Esp when the intended victim is not here to defend himself

What a complete P***K

I don't share Imaz's Islamic faith, but I'd never insult his religion, nor would I insult him for adhering to it.

As Uber pointed out, its not really a coincidence that its a Muslim that's taken offence is it? I think we can be quite certain that if Jerel said the same thing about a Christian or an Atheists beliefs, that person wouldn't take such umbrage to it nor would there be such a clamour from the rest of you to defend him/her.

Jerel's belief is that Islam and all religions are unreasonable fantasies and he shouldn't be attacked for his having an opinion either. If I were to say I was a Scientologist or a Druid for example or some sort of new age spiritualist, I would expect people to disagree with me because to a lot of people, my beliefs would appear ridiculous. Equally, Imaz' beliefs are preposterous to people like Jerel yet they get special treatment because people are afraid of upsetting them.

Quite frankly, if your faith was in any way strong, jibes from the non-believers wouldn't bother you in the slightest.
