More modern??? What bollocks are you talking Inda, being English or Scottish or Welsh goes back many centuries Great Britain dates from 1707, before that there was no Great Britain. If Scotland goes for independence no more Great Britain. Britain is a political union, England Wales and Scotland are countries.

I had nor have any intention of playing anything Inda, but this subject does have the potential for someone to do so. You said you had a problem with the word "English", which is dangerous territory imo, its not just me,Spurf was first to pull you up. Like I said its a contentious subject that I shall now play no further part in. Anyone feeling they need the last word for some oneupmanship...go for it. <ok>

There's complaints that the Welsh players didn't sing God Save The Queen before the Senegal match. The best solution is to have Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau play before the next game, and naturally all the English players will sing that...

I've got the Boardwalk Empire boxset to watch for the first week - any recommendations for the other two?

England or English must be the only country and nationality in the world which generates this sort of controversy and I haven't a clue why except others are jealous maybe. I'm English and those of you who are with me well good on you and for those of you who aren't just just pee off. We had a good 0-0 today but the lack of goals from the front men is again a concern. We are as yet unbeaten.

Americans have a similar attitude, which generates similar issues.

Then again, Americans are what happens if you dump English people on the other side of the world in a country they don't understand, let them simmer in their paranoia and prejudices for a few hundred years, then introduce Germans, the Irish, Italians, Scandanavians, and Eastern European Jews to the mix. Simmer for a while, then add Mexicans, Japanese, Koreans, and people who are pissed off that they were used as slaves for a few hundred years.

It was an Inter away kit a few years back, because St George is the patron saint of Milan.
Does seem like an extremely obvious choice for England though, doesn't it?

This is the sort of keeper we need, watch the way he deals with the corner after 1:07 minutes. The rest of the video brings back good memories as well.

Good footage, thanks for posting. Pat didn't excell with Chelsea goal, but top keeper. Only goalie I can recall who could catch a ball in one hand!

She did better than expected. Better than she could have hoped for. Yeah, well done Gibbo (do they call her that? :))

Shame about Pendleton and Varnish disqualification. I haven't seen it yet. It couldn't have been any worse for them.

Michael Jamieson getting silver last night in the breaststroke was awesome.

The whole games have been awesome so far.

Team GB just got silver in the women's team sprint. Them medals are totting up now :)
