Don't be daft. My opinion is different from yours, that's all. I can assure you that Mabon's views on Wales are very much in the minority. Only time will tell who's right.

Btw, forgot to mention, thought the petals being lit and coming together into the final giant cauldron was brilliant. Just saw it on TV again now. <applause>

I dont really understand why living in a different part of the world doesn't give you an opinion! As for Mustyfrogs comments,i feel that a guy who lives thousands of miles away has his finger on the pulse alot firmer than some people living in this country!

I think Knackered Jack will be suprised to see how out of touch his comments are in the coming months/years. There is a real appetite for change in the UK, people are getting fed up of many things, the way we have all been sucked dry by the banking system and corporations has made even the most mild mannered people sick! the economic climate will prove to be the straw that breaks the Camels back. When there is the worst economic crisis for almost 50yrs social unrest is only a matter of time. The establishment know this, hence why having so many troops on the streets now makes the perfect rehersial for what will happen in the future, everything by design but the mask is slowly slipping away and the masses are starting to catch on.

Like I said, time will tell. I don't expect everyone to agree. If you think with independence we'll be living in a Shangri-La where banking crises and corruption don't exist then I happen to think you're wrong. It'll just be a Cardiff elite controlling our lives rather than a London one.

Musty is entitled to his view, but to say his finger is on the pulse of what's happening in Wales when he's never been here is stretching it. No offence.

    Anyway, back to the thread...

They've been showing bits on T.V again and I still think that was a great show last night. The petal cauldron was shown again. How can anyone not think that was impressive?

knackered i don't want to get into a debate about the why's and wherefores of the independence issue thats for another thread i am sure and spoil the thread for those that want to discuss that rubbish last night, but i will end by saying this don't worry about Wales and Scotland wanting out, its the English that will split this island although since devolution for the celtic nations it is an unstoppable train, give it 30/40 years it will be split in to 4 seperate nations. personally i hope i live to see it.

Remember knackered from small acorns grow big oaks.<ok>

Northern Ireland can't survive without England, and cannot survive as part of Ireland.

Most of us don't want to leave either.

"but to say his finger is on the pulse of what's happening in Wales when he's never been here is stretching it. No offence. "-Knackered Jack.

With respect Knackered Jack i think that comment is very misleading and un true, Musty never even mentioned anything about Wales,he was refering to Scotland actually and unless you are a resident of that country your view is as valid as Mustyfrogs is,both being resident of another country! He is well within his rights to be angry with you if you total misunderstand or mis-qoute what he says, just an observation .

I tend to agree with your re-edited comments regarding power being centralised to Cardiff, i also beleive this to be true as we have seen with the limited power available to the Welsh Assembly. There will be alot of changes taking place in the next5-10yrs, Austerity has been thrust upon us by design, thats the main worry. Most economic analysts knew we were heading for a major economic downturn so the big question is why was it allowed to happen?? it was allowed to happen so that big buisness and Banks can own and enslave bigger sections of the population and make us all fight over the scraps of employment that would remain afterwards.

As i have said, many people are starting to see through this move of enslavement and will soon start to make moves to protest. Austerity? well if 10% of the top public schools are supplying 90% of the top jobs in the city then what we have is a major project to widen the gap from Rich to Poor.

I think I'll leave this thread now as nobody wants to continue talking about our wonderful ceremony last night.

    Good thread, Musty <ok>

I'm too busy hanging my head in disbelief at the negativity expressed about it on other websites <laugh> Honestly, 90% of the population (me included) think it was awesome so the other 10% have to play devil's advocate and call it a disgrace which has now cemented us as a leftie pinko cling on to Europe's arse!

Intresting that kj wants to now talk about the ceremony but if you read his first comment and paragrapgh he dives straight in to have a go at musty for not living here!!

He then gets put in his place by other posters, changes his stance towards musty, thanks himfor a great thread and leaves..Even though he was the guy that origionally derailed and lowered the tone by getting personal with the OP

    If calsberg did nut Jobs..<laugh>

I agree with this comment, i expressed positives in my first post and thought it was a night that made us proud to be British. We have alot of great things in our country that have been forgoten over time,it was refreshing to see a tribute paid to the things that made our country great and the rest of the world realise that our country influenced alot of the best things in their cultures such as the internet, great music and industrial methods. <ok>

AS for the opening ceremony, I thought it was up there with the best, quite eccentric in parts, but that's the English for you, but on the whole I loved it, well impressed as it grew on me!..............

Classyjack a very well thought out post there, and if i may say so not far from the truth i suspect. if we were aware of half that our government and the establishment are doing in our name there would probably be riots on a scale that would make last summers riots reappear. as a miner during the eighties i was part of and saw what lengths the government would go to to keep its citizens in order. And that is something that will never be forgotten or forgiven either. And to be honest still fuels my anti british stance and always will.

I love & respect all things British , including the Union Jack . Even as a 12 year old boy 1n 1965 I remember being angry when the Canadian Red Ensign was replaced by the Canadian Maple Leaf flag . It's grown on me a bit in the 47 years but would still prefer the Ensign
