Men's road race will be a cracker today. I suppose Cav will be the one to beat if it comes down to a bunch sprint, but Greipel will take some holding out too. Then there is a possible break away win. Tom Boonen gave the Tour the swerve to be at his best for here, so he and possibly Cancellara who's probably here for the Time Trial, might surprise. I'll be cheering the Oz boys though.

The colours just seemed a bit twee to me? Mind you, am still pondering the British outfits of white (white Bermudas for the men?) with gold trimmings. As long as he's not too knackered by his TdF efforts, Mark will take some beating. Hopefully, he should have Greipel's measure. We'll see.
When the German squad appeared last night, my missus (true-blue Bavarian lass) was apoplectic over their uniforms of pink and blue, especially when I remarked "wie süss" (how sweet). Who on earth dreamed that up?

Swanny this type of sting is not unusual out here, we're a nation of crooks. According to some betting houses, she was backed in from 33-1 into 1-2. Seems that quite a few new customers were trying to open accounts to try unloading on her. We have a lot of those Player of the Year things where the voting is supposed to be secret, but every now and then a massive onslaught is launched at the last moment on the winner. It's even happened on our tv awards.

I was delighted with it - there's always a worry that these things will miss the mark but I thought Danny Boyle judged it perfectly. Getting Olympians to nominate kids to light the flame was an inspired move. All we've been hearing is that it's for the kids and that was Coe's original pitch when we applied to host them. It's good to see people living up to their promises.
Mind you, if we get to Tuesday and haven't won any gold medals i'll stop watching the bloody thing
