Tomorrow i've come up with a rather nice little proposition in the shape of Gramercy 3.45 York currently at odds 25/1 with Stan James and surely cant go off at that price. Gramercy last won 07/08/2010 at Ascot of a mark of 92 which he runs of tomorrow and my feeling is that he will show a much improved performance tomorrow. The last two of his runs on heavy ground can be discounted and with the going tomorrow set to be Good/Firm this will be right up his street having shown only his best form in conditions better than Good with the exception of when far too highly tried in conditions and listed races. Also all 3 of his wins have come over his optimum trip of 6f.

Well thats my tuppence worth good luck.

    Hi wooly,

This Gramercy is a really interesting runner tomorrow the ISOE selections producing Van Ellis recently are a seperate system to my "own" analysis..Gramercy recently changed hand for serious money and trainer too. Its an accident waiting to happen! Needs the good ground and has got it...trip right too...mark spot on... no excuses tomorrow for a poor run if hes settled ok at his new abode!

Only thing I'd say about the change in ownership. Dr. Marwan Koukash bought him before his first run before Kevin Ryan so he's had him for a bit. Now moved to Simcock and the change of scenery could easily do him the world of good but he's only had him 13 days so not a huge amount he could do! Definitely on a very nice mark and I can definitely see him running a very big race if bouncing back to his best. I'd be slightly concerned that in his 2 starts at York (one on soft) he finished well down the field so he may not like the track. Good luck!

thanks ROTO i thought you would have an opinion on him with him being ex Ryan...and yes the track would be my only concern.

    15.10 York- Side Glance 8/1

A very tough race this and many will be attracted to regular G1 participiant Planteur, but his form of late has been found a little wanting. Side Glance ran a cracker in the Queen Anne finding only Frankel and Excelebration too good and beating a few of this field and before that beating the talented gelding of Dance & Dance who has since then gone on to win. He is a horse in the form at the moment, he will like the good ground and although he is untried over the distance, it shouldnt be a worry as he looked to have been able to go further with more in the tank in the queen anne just couldnt get near the front two! and at the price above he represents real value and I shall be having a small e/w saver too as well as a win!

Ardent- With regard Gramercy i have my suspicion is that this is a really good, fast horse but that he does not race quite to the top of his ability. I remember when he was with Michael Bell he thought he was a really good horse and spoke of him being fancied on many occasions but he often left the trainer disappointed. I think this is why he went for good money, if you were to see him work i think you would feel he could not lose, but then he does. I think at the price tomorrow he is definately worth an each way interest but you cannot back him with confidence i feel.

Can I just say, in my whole life I have never ever been so proud to be British as these last 4 hours. Magnificent opening ceremony, really celebrating the things Britain can be proud of, and showcasing our traditions and values. A really wonderful refreshing innovative way to go about it and frankly it was outstanding. Wow. I simply did not expect that. I hope it inspires a better generation.

3.10 York: PLANTEUR 7/2 (NAP) This is a high class horse and whilst he was disappointing at Ascot, that is a stiff track and he runs very, very good races on the flatter French tracks where he can utilise a very decent turn of foot. I suspect he might have a touch too much class for the field and they are giving you a more than fair price if you do indeed think the same. He ran very promisingly prior to Ascot and I think the better ground he will relish.

2.20 Ascot: BECAUSEWECAN 20/1 e.w Has slipped down to a more realistic mark and there is a chance he might get the run of the race. It is dangerous to dismiss any front runners in these quick ground conditions because if they steal a couple of lengths out of you they don't stop.

3.25 Ascot: MAUREEN 5/6 (NB) A tremendously exciting Richard Hannon juvenile who should have won last time out had Jimmy Fortune found some gaps. She would have been a very cosy winner and has stacks of potential. The quick ground will really suit and I can't see Hughes making the same mistake.

Couldn't have put it better myself, with all the negativity that we English can muster on occasions we sure know how to put on a show. It was incredible and very uplifting, and did the British proud, one of the best opening shows I've ever seen, if not the best (but maybe i am biased, which is a nice english response:smiley:)

Sorry Ardent, slip of the writing, I'll say "made me proud" instead> I am a bear of very small brain and have always found this English / British stuff very confusing...

Frankie to take the big handicap at York today on Swiss Cross (3.45). Goes off 94 as in his last race at Epsom where he only found Sacrosanctus too good and has a healthy 4lbs pull with that rival today for just a length beating. The booking of Dettori takes the eye at the 3 draw should be ideal to bounce Swiss Cross out and get up with the pace.
