Then why hasn't he signed? Something has gone wrong - hopefully it will be solvable, but I'm sure the plan was for him to be training with us this week. I guess he's in Manchester for preseason training now?
it doesn't seem like the easiest of transfers, SD. there's the issue with his wages and how we plan to pay him "x" p/w but will cover the rest in the signing on fee. even if that's sorted, there could well be something that needs sorting with the fee to city. I don't think Ade is going to push for a move to russia somehow, so as a result, it'll be us and city playing hard ball until the situation is resolved.
Read somewhere that $ity have decided they want 6 mil instead of the 5 mil which was agreed. What is with them, we are doing them a favour by getting him off their wage bill and getting a very good player to boot!
Surely we reached agreement with City last week? You'd have thought the wages stuff would have been agreed while he was here last year, or else why negotiate with City at all.
I heard what perryman says. ^^ Perhaps it's not sorted with city at all, but maybe the personal terms are? Just gotta be patient I guess.
See he is training with Man City again as neither party will agree on the wages, I very much doubt he is worth 175k a week which is what he wants.
No agree none are worth anything like that, I would say in the mad world of football I would pay 80k a week to go to a max of 100k, give him a good goal bonus which will make him work hard.
WTF!!!!! This has been consistently written up as a done deal for what seems like weeks - every damn source saying the same - now this!! Mention of stalling over 'personal terms' may be a bit of disinformation or maybe not, but we need resolution before next month cos if Ade is not coming then other business needs to be completed - and FAST!!
Handy the one thing AVB learned at Chelsea was how to bump into other teams' players in hotel lobbies...
If we delay the transfer for five weeks it saves us somewhere between £500,00 and £900.000 in wages. Levy is not stupid.
Why was every source reporting him saying he'd take a pay cut for the last few weeks prior to this??? Sounds like an agents idea of putting the squeeze on with a rumour to me, or some goon reporter trying to maintain the spin that he is a mercenary and money is his only thought. Ade enjoyed his football with Bale and VdV, why start again amongst fresh faces? If it wasn't working here, fine, so on that basis I think it'll get done.
It is being reported in Manchester that he is refusing to take any pay cut whatsoever. The fee has been agreed between the clubs it is simply the wages that are the sticking point. His agent has more or less said that they would be willing to sit out the next 2 years at City rather than move for less money. The figures being quoted would mean if he signed for Spurs he would only make about £10m over the next 2 seasons whereas if he stays at City he would be looking at £18m. His agent has also said something about not being able to afford to live in London on these wages!!!!!!
I wouldn't believe everything you read or hear - especially in Manchester!! There must be numerous 'interested parties' who would be keen to disrupt this deal. Still reckon it will go through, but if - and it is a very BIG if at the moment - Ade has changed his reasonable /keen to stay position, then frankly I wouldn't want to be held to ransom by him and his agent. Certainly not with other capable options apparently available. There are significant advantages in keeping him on the books, but not at the risk of disrupting what appears to be our very unified club.
