Does anybody know if it was Steve Bruce's scout's at Wigan that found the likes of Antonio Valencia, Wilson Palacios and Hugo Rodallega? If so are they joining our set up?
He had Palacios on loan at birmingham, then signed him for wigan. I was thinking he must have a contact in South America?
It was Assem who said it rather than Ehab, but he definitely did plan to stop scouting completely, because all the info we need is on the internet. I really hope he's since changed his mind, but it was definitely his plan about a month ago.
If the Allams were that desperate to get Bruce they would have promise him the earth. Could you honestly see Bruce taking the job and having to rely on the internet instead of having scouts to look over players.
Signs are that Bruce is educating them on how to run a football club. From a footballing side that is.
Was it David Moyes who admitted to doing a bit of scouting on Football Manager games?. Maybe thats the route Assem should go down, That way he wouldn't need to pay for an internet provider.
Palacios was at Arsenal on trial but they thought he wasn't good enough. Wenger passed him onto Bruce. The others were scouted by scouts working for Bruce i believe
Probably not. Maybe. It could actually be a good model; the manager taking full charge of the football side of things while the Allams look after money. It would require a lot of trust of course, which didn't seemt to exist between the owners and AP/NB for whatever reason.
