2 points seem to have been missed by you jubilant Chelsea fans...

    1. Terry got off because the prosecution couldn't prove Anton had not accused him of saying what he then "repeated" later. That's pretty much a legal technicality that means it's just as likely Terry was telling the truth, as playing the system through his fancy-pants lawyer (we'll never know). So unfortunately for Chelsea he'll still get stick from away fans, whereas if the defence had actually smashed the prosecution to pieces, as I expected such an outfit to, he would have been completely free of it.

    2. It is not "stupid" to have such a case, nor a "joke". It is in fact brilliant for the game that we can have such a high profile case, because it proves we take racism seriously in this country. The only problem is that the minimum fine if he had been found guilty was £2,500, and a possible suspension from the FA.
It was well worth discussing and taking seriously, and players will think twice before saying something like this in a football match in future.

Also, give Terry the armband back? <laugh>

Maybe a few years ago, but I think he'll be phased out of the team over the course of the next campaign. He'll be a squad player, I think, with Cahill coming in probably <ok>

I think the key points were actually that the lip-reading evidence couldn't be relied on to categorically confirm what had been said and its context. As well as this, maybe most crucially, the prosecution couldn't bring forward any witnesses who heard what Terry said or how he said it.

Going on to your second point, the above reasons are the same I would have told you a week ago as to why John Terry would be found not guilty. If this was clear to me, a non-legal person, it must have been clear to the CPS, so they will need justify spending public money on this case.

    ^^^ this

If anyone believes that he was merely repeating what the other guy was saying, then they are most gullible people on the planet. He must be pretty relieved he escaped because his position as captain of a team with key black players would been laughable.

Well, the judge said Terry's version of events had been put under the most intense scrutiny on at least three occasions and had remained consistent. This gave him cause to declare Terry a 'credible witness.'
Does this mean he's gullible then?

Yes to the last question <ok>

or the evidence to the contrary was not strong enough. Pretty unlikely but cannot be disproved. A bit like Harry's.

The bold bit is a not really relevant, because A) Terry actually admitted saying the words. As I said, it was the fact the prosecution couldn't prove Anton hadn't said the words before Terry. B) The witnesses were only relevant to the Anton bit, because if they could prove Anton didn't say it, Terry was lying whether he said it sarcastically or not.

Have you read the report? If so you'll realise it covers everything I said.

Whether it was clear to you, who I'm assuming didn't hear all the evidence, or whether you're loyalty is simply clouding your judgement, it was a necessary trial. The defence moved to dismiss after day 1, and the judge said a case was there to be answered. It's all on the BBC website <ok>

Been reading the script from the court for the last hour and my word, Ferdy's prosecution hadn't a leg to stand on. JT's defence quite frankly made a mockery of it and wiped the floor with them, his story was consistant from te moment it left his lips and recieved backing from former/present colleagues and associates - all of whom are of great wealth and different ethnicity (banishing the accusation Terry paid them off and they only stuk up for him because they knew him).

To be honest, the people who are still questioning the verdict are boarderline morons in my opinion or they quite simply haven't done their homework and/or followed this trial.

John Terry - not guilty of racial abuse. Case closed.

It would be fantastic if Terry took plank Ferdinand to the cleaners over his inappropriate comments. if only to put Rio off Twitter, thus not subjecting the world to his brainless musings

Yes, I have read the report and I still take from it those were crucial factors.
The video evidence lacks crucial parts of what Terry says and with the lip-readers concurring they couldn't say for sure what was said, making it difficult for them to establish context.
And with no witnesses, again the prosecution had no way to disprove the context of what Terry had said.

Its true I wasn't in court but have been following the trial across various journalists on twitter all week as well as reading all the reports on it too. Before the trial, the only thing I thought they could Terry on was if they had clear audio. When it emerged they didn't, I had no doubt in my mind Terry would be found not guilty.

I didn't expect anything, but a not guilty verdict in the conclusion of this court proceeding.

There were no witnesses to what John Terry said and there was no audio in the video either. The closest players to Terry at the time of what he allegedly said were Ashley Cole and Jon Obi Mikel and neither heard anything, with Cole not so much as even flinching in the video evidence. Cole even came in as a witness for Terry to give evidence that he had not heard him say anything, nor has he ever heard him racially abuse anyone, nor does he believe him to be a racist, stating that this issue should never had been brought to court. Statements sent in by Jose Mourinho, Ryan Bertrand and Salomon Kalou said the same thing, that they never once witnessed him use any form of racist behaviour and were certain that he was not a racist. Identical statements made by Cech, Turnbull, Hilario, Bosingwa, Ferreira, Ivanovic, Luiz, Romeu, Lampard, Meireles, Essien, Mata, Torres, Sturridge and Lukaku also backed this up. A further statement by a Pakistani man who Terry hired cars from also said that he does not believe Terry to be a racist and was "shocked" by the allegations. Bruce Buck and Ray Wilkins both gave a strong character defense of Terry. David Richardson (Chelsea coach driver) confirmed the time which the Chelsea coach left Loftus Road which backed up Terry's story.

According to Anton Ferdinand, never at one moment did he hear any racist language or witness any racial abuse. The only time he thought it was when his then girlfriend showed him a youtube video of what Terry allegedly said, about one hour after the match.

So in the end, the correct verdict is reached of something which truly never should have been brought to court. The only positive about it is that the FA will see sense and take this matter no further. But as the FA is run by numpties who lack common sense and logic, we may not see that happen.

Oh do shut up you muppet, Terry consistently stated throughout this year and last that his comment was taken out of context - therefore smashing any relevance to that 'video' to pieces.

How many are there? 3? 4? I know my wife's stepfather quit going to Chelsea years ago because he couldn't stand all the anti-semitic stuff he heard there. Something of a shame given that he'd supported Chelsea loyally since the mid 50s.

How on earth do you expect your comment to have any value on this board when you don't do some ****ing research??? Terry has said time and time again that he thought Anton accused him of racism and repeated the accusation back to him, the bit which was caught on camera - how do you not know this? Did you follow the trial at all?

I was a season ticket holder throughout the 90s and early 00s and never heard a peep of racism. Anti semitic I can say I've heard, merely due to our rivalry with a certain North London side, not condoning it but that's the reasoning behind it.

    You are all hot air.

I know for a fact Terry isn't a racist so it doesn't particularly bother me. I'm far more inclined to believe people I know as well as people closer to Terry than I am anyone else.

When you've experienced racism, it's easy to tell who's racist and who isn't. Most sensible people including the Chief Magitsrate know Terry isn't a racist. Don't feel sorry for Black people at all. I'm quite glad Terry was found innocent if evidence was insufficient. The only thing worst than a racist is being wrongly accused of being one
