I see the chav thug has not been charged. What a joke, the whole country can see he is as guilty as anything. He shags teammates girlfriends, acts like a knob on the pitch like his tackle against Barcelona and he is a general disgrace to football.
Was Doomcaster the judge? His attempts to save Rangers were embarrasing and pathetic.

So you know better than a judge who has access to all the facts! <doh> Good grief get a grip...!

Don't let your own personal prejudices get in the way of the story <ok> I am no cheer leader for John Terry but I am a supporter of due and proper process! <ok>

A couple of points about JT

    1. The lady in question was a team mate's EX-girlfriend, and is on record as saying the "affair" did NOT take place!

    2. Several of JT's black team mates gave evidence in his favour! A guilty verdict on the evidence available would have brought the English Judiciary into disrepute!

While I don't condone racism in any way, shape or form it was revealed during the trial that Anton Ferdinand had spent the entire game saying things like 'you shagged your mates missus' in an attempt to wind Terry up. I know this sort of thing goes on in football and other sports all the while and I totally agree that Terry's reaction to it was way over the top, but Ferdinand isn't as innocent as everyone has made him out to be.

Was just about to post on this as well. Not a proud day for the legal system. I cannot fathom what numpty at the CPS thought that it was worth pursuing Terry at a cost of five days court time wasted plus I don't even want to know how much in legal fees from the mostly empty public purse when the chance of a conviction was marginal and the best possible outcome (from a prosectutors perspective) was him being found guilty and fined £2500 - about an hours salary). The trouble is that despite Thurnby's comments about JT (which I don't think many would argue with) the prosecution have to prove their case and unfortunately being a low-life piece of filth does not warrant being found guilty. If you have got a good enough barrister you can pretty much walk from anything and Terry could afford George Carman who is brilliant and was always going to trounce the prosecution team.

Happy with Rangers getting dropped down to Div 3 though. Good to see the other clubs show some backbone and do the right thing even if it costs them all financially.

None of those things are actually illegal though. Just that racism charge which was going to be hard to prove as anton didn't hear him, you can't pick up sarcasm while lip reading.

If he had George Carman he did well.Carman died in 2001.I think there are two different things here and the Magistrate covered them quite well. Was he guilty beyond reasonable doubt? Well his explanation wasn't especially plausible but it was sufficient to cast enough doubt. In my mind he did say it but whether court was the right place to pursue this is another matter.

This whole case probably needed a Scottish verdict of not proven rather than not guilty, as obviously on the evidence is was not beyond reasonable doubt that terry aimed what he said at Ferdinand. So correct decision however much we all hate terry.

I don't like terry any more than you do, but im pleased he has been found not guilty. Anton Ferdinand is a fanny. It would never have got to court if evra had also never been a fanny. they get paid thousands of pounds a week and probably gets abused from the stands on a regular basis by opposing fans... if someone cane into work and called me a fat **** i would just tell them where to go i wouldn't cry and take them to court......Did there mums never tell them sticks and stones..sums up the rediculous world we live in...grow a pair anton!!

To be fair Anton didn't make the racst allegation it was a member of the public who made the initial complaint to the police

Agree with what's been said above, football is a moral free zone, due process was followed and 'JT' was found not guilty even though personally I find him repugnant

All of this could and should have been resolved many months ago

    actus reus : yes
    mens rea: not proven
The burden of proof lies with the prosecution

IMO the FA come very badly out of this. Remember Capello's caustic comment after resigning over the interference with his choice of England captain? "They make a lot in England of their "Innocent until proven guilty", but John Terry has already been deemed guilty" (or words to that effect). The FA can't argue that just the prima facie case against Terry justified stripping him of the England captaincy. If that were true it would be enough to justify his exclusion from representing England at Euro 2012, captain or not. Talk about double standards. My view of Terry is the same as most, but he and others of similar ilk only get away with it through the moral bankruptcy of those running the game, whether at national or club level.

Some people write stuff like they are morally higher than everyone else.

It's disturbing the things that appear on here from time to time, people acting like judge, jury and executioner. It's terrible to be honest.

People who are writing stuff like this post should have good long look at themselves and the things they have done in the past that have been questionable and think again before judging other people and going around condemning them. I have done things in the past that I am not too proud of and would never go around judging people for mistakes they have made.

To be honest, I am glad the whole thing is over. I couldn't care less if he did or didn't say it. If he doesn't like black people, and I'm not saying he does or doesn't, then thats his choice. I don't understand why somebody doesn't like someone else because of their colour but if they don't then they are racist twats. I hate Germans for the war and can't find it in my heart to forgive them. Thats me and I don't mix with them or have friends amongst them.
But the whole thing was between him and Ferdinand and it appears nobody really heard it. If it had been heard over the PA system then fair enough, charge him. But for something between two people, it has just wasted the courts time.
And if he didn't say it, then has Ferdinand perjured himself?

We can take the mickey out of the Rangers situation but can you imagine this being allowed to happen to the 2nd best team in the Prem. I don't think Scudamore would have allowed the clubs to kick out ManUNewco!
